Just remember, some people's taste is all in thier mouth.... Case in point, the AMC Pacer was one of thier best selling models....go figure.

Re: why do they hate the svx

To this day the SVX remains one of the most beautiful production cars ever made.

That is why so many cars, even ugly ones (not the svx) are sold every year. It takes all kinds to find beauty in different cars.

Re: why do they hate the svx

The SVX is one of the more sexy cars IMO, and the NSX is right there with it. Some people have peculiar taste..... and those are the ones who OOHHH and AHHHH over cars like the pontiac aztec and the honda element (SoCal apologizes to any owner of previously mentioned cars).

I have had an image in my head about the combination of the NSX and SVX into one car, an NSV-X

Aluminum mid-engined chassis with SLA suspension
Longitudinal mid-mounted EG33 with dual AVCS (kinda like VTEC...)
Black roof over bodycolor, with a longer glasshouse, making the rear overhang less visually obvious than NSX. Flush glass canopy look like SVX.
Butterfly doors (like McLaren F1/SLR) with window-in-a-window as an SVX cue.
flush-mount headlights like 02-05 NSX, but pre-02 NSX-style horizontal marker lights... with an SVX-like slit in the bumper (above the main low intake) between them.
NSX interior with SVX-like alcantara trim.
Both cars have nice horizontal tail lights... either one is cool, especially if it were LED-equipped. I like the NSX's full width CHMSL, although it isn't very high-mounted.

Even with all sorts of money to throw at custom fabrication, I am not sure that those two early 90's era cars could be melded that way unless they were combined on the drawing-board, and then built from that... but it is a nice dream.

Re: SVX + NSX = wow!

I wish I were better at drawing, and I have absolutely no computer rendering skills, (i fix computers, but don't draw with them, sorry...)

I have it in my head... I wish I could get my hands to put it on paper/digital...

Maybe I'll rough it out, but it won't be pretty.

Re: why do they hate the svx

Everybody has their own opinion. I don't see anything especially beautiful in the Ferrari F40, but multitudes would disagree with me. What I do find very interesting is the article just below this one using the same URL. That story is the latest report about the Toyota/Subaru super coupe that is due out as a 2010 or 2011 model. We have heard about this project before but it looks as though it is nearing reality. Both Toyota and Subaru will sell versions of the same basic car, although AutoCar reports that neither version will use AWD in order to save weight and reduce cost. I think they are dead wrong, that Subaru will insist on using AWD on any car that carries its emblem. That may make the Subaru version a bit heavier and more costly but all of us know the value of AWD. If they produce the car in the artist concept form of a fastback coupe, it doesn't take much imagination to come up with a sports-roadster version, something I think would be a great seller. I would certainly consider buying a Subaru turbo roadster with 275 bhp and AWD. What a kick that would be! Keep your fingers crossed.

There's an idea. I wish I had the time do do a complete CADD model of my SVX (and owned an NSX to do likewise) and then combine them into a wholly new model.

And then, what the hell, pull a DeLorean and build the dang thing (without the cocaine stuffed into the upholstery ;p)

Re: why do they hate the svx

I just got back from driving my 92 out for some lunch...My regular veh. is a Tahoe....I got this SVX on a trade for a motorcycle....I love the way it drive`s , lots of power, looks sweet, it even gets lots of looks....I just wish it wasn`t so finicky(trans., and engine codes).....But still is a nice car....I haven`t put it legal on the street cause I can`t decide weather it`s worth putting more money into....I would say it needs about $1000 of repaire`s.....
It just drives sooo sweeet.....Probably just need to fix it a little at a time....
