Transmission/Warranty = money out of my pocket anyway!

Well as you all know I bought my SVX last year with a bumper to bumper Warranty that I purchased at the same time from the dealer. They paid for wheel bearings and a power steering pump replacement already. Well now the trans is going and they sent a guy out to test drive it and he comfirmed it. So to get a rebuilt trans with a 2yr warranty it is going to cost 4700.00 installed plus they have to install an extra cooler or the tranny company wont warranty it. So the used car warranty I purchased will only pay 2000.00 of the 4700.00 because they say the fair market value has been met by them.
Doesnt matter that I paid 5500.00 for the car 7months ago. So the 1500.00 I paid for the warranty covered 1000.00 sofar and another 2000.00 coming up. (3000.00 total) Oh and yeah it's in the fine print now that it's been read to me. I'm not pissed (well I kinda am) but I would rather take the money and have someone do a 5 or 6speed swap for me but they wont pay that way.

Oh well, guess I should just be happy because for what I paid for the warranty I got double back. But still sits in my stomach wrong....

How can the fair market value be less than the $5500 you paid 7 months ago? I would want to have the rebuilt tranny from a Subaru dealer. The price should be about the same and you would get a 2 yr 24,000 mile warranty and not be forced to add the tranny cooler. A bumper to bumper warranty should cover all this. Also, after you get the new tranny you should be able to cancel the warranty and get a pro-rated refund. Good luck.

Significant Technical Input
Have you checked the fair trade value against Kelley Blue Book? (KBB.com) They are the recognized standard for determining automotive values in specific areas. Shoot, you may find it worth 'moving' to a new address where the value is higher....

If your contract says only the fair market value for the vehicle over its life than that is all they have to pay. You would've sided a contract so read it or have a lawyer read it!

yeah

it's in the fine print. Guess those used car warrantys are not all they are cracked up to be. Oh well. Just feel like getting rid of the car now but that would be kinda stupid.
