That is an XT Turbo, also available in the same chassis as the XT and the XT6.

The XT is the SVX's big brother.

Replacement yes...big brother no. The SVX was designed after the XT...and some of the lines from the SVX were taken from the XT. Look at the XT from an angle and look how the trunk is and the rear tail lights look from the side. Looks like an SVX with no spoiler. The SVX is the big brother for many newer subaru's ....after all we do have the largest engine to go into a subaru

i was THIS close to having one of those be my first car when i was 16. My uncle got a silver one in at his wrecking yard and was going to give it to me, but it never panned out. Needed to much work or something. I never really liked them though. Too boxy and square for my tastes.

I like the old XTs. Who remembers the TV ad where the farmer's son comes rippin' 'cross-country and through a stream, heading home in a new XT? Sensible dad says, "Son, I thought we agreed you'd buy another Subaru." Kid, looking dismayed, replies, "But Dad, I did..."

That was back in the days when Subaru ads were smart and funny enough to be memorable, years before the SVX, but even then Subaru was trying to break the econobox stereotype.

I remember that spot... That comercial and the "Pods" are the reasons I fell in love with the XT's back then.

I just thought about that commercial the other week when I went up to NY to take a look at those 3 XT6's that were on EBay...

Big brother is a little confusing since the SVX is technically bigger. The XT is definately the OLDER brother.
