can glass packs go bad?

i got 2 thrush glass packs on the svx to quite down the no cat dual system. the car sounds great. do to the size of the 4in packs and in alaska i have bottomed out more than a few times. they look solid but they took the impact. i noticed that now when they are hot i get a ticking sound. also when the car is turned off it sounds like hot metal ticking till they cool. i think that is where it is coming from. this just started a week ago and cant figure out why.

The only problem I have found is if they are mounted too close to the front of the system, the glass fiber will melt into glass balls, to rattle like mad.

Mine makes that same ticking sound when i turn it off and i have stock exhaust. So, i would guess its not from something you did (exhaust or glass packs.) lemme know if you find the problem.

The "ticking" sound when the motor is turned off is caused by creaking due to cooling-induced contraction of the exhaust system. Some designs "tick" more than others. There are probably some internal components that are creaking past each other during cooling.

well i ran it a month or so with out the packs and no ticks. so im assuming the packs are what are trying to cool and the fiberglass ball poping theory sounds logical. i will adventually redo the whole system. i found some smoother lower toned mufflers and resinators to install. as my set up. would be best for drag and track it gets great flow and a good aggresive sound.
