I agree, and I will find out what it is. There was too much leakage to ignore it.

The half-shaft has been replaced, and the mystery fluid was actually a combination of at least 3 different fluids. 1.) It has a leaking rack. 2.) Engine oil is leaking from seals (that were replaced last September in CA). 3.) Transmission fluid was leaking too. My uncle tightened up some connections in the latter (most worrysome) system, so hopefully that one is taken care of. The break-down happened on the second day of use after the car had sat for 2 months.

i didnt know about the halfshafts comes with the boots and everything all in one ready to go. thats awsome i got to return the outer boot and buy the whole thing. 70 dollars with a 60 dollar core from napa. still hope the install is as easy you all say it is. i want my hard cornering back to kill the rest of my worn tires. to get new one for the trip out of ak.
