Re: Movie thread
Terminator 2 was awesome, Aliens was awesome, Mr. Brooks was cool, Twilight sucked fuzzy horse nuts, Event Horizon was cool, Harry Potter 1,2,3,4,5 was gay, Old Yeller made me cry, and Battlefield Earth made me hate movies. That about covers everything.....

"No country for old men" reads like a screenplay. Strangely the resulting movie was good to mediocre, it failed to catch the human melodrama underlying the machismo. With "The Road" it will be totally dependent on actors of charisma and ability to carry the central tenet. Unfortunately I am expecting Hollywood to deliver big-time on the special effects of the environment and the substrate, while under-writing the acting parts. Let's wait and see. Joe

Re: Movie thread
The last movie I saw was "Caprica" and it was amazing. Anyone who watched Battlestar Galactica would thoroughly enjoy it, and anyone who didn't could still get quite a bit of entertainment out of it, as it has enough information to stand on it's own.

Re: Movie thread
I was coerced into watching "Bruno" saturday night when I went down to costa mesa with my girl and her mom. I must say... it was hilarious and very very disturbing at the same time. I must warn anyone who wants to see this to be prepared to have a large european penis waved back and forth, round and round in your face on a big screen..... and it also talks out of its pee-hole
If you can take the gross factor, its definitely the funniest movie ive seen in a long time. |

Re: Movie thread
The last movie I saw was Terminator Salvation. I thought it was good, it had to be one of the loudest movies I've ever seen.

Re: Movie thread
Just found out MGM is remaking Red Dawn and Robocop. I'm a little disturbed by this revelation, especially after hearing about how they're planning to modernize the script for Red Dawn. (Modernize = butcher beyond recognition) That movie was one of my favorites growing up, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to see MGM destroy it...

Re: Movie thread
I thought this was a very very good movie, too. I'm a big fan of the Terminator franchise.

Star Trek made me question my carrier choice (Is this the brass ring?), Terminator XXXVIII won't be any better than the last two, and the remake of Total Recall promises to be the biggest disaster film of all time. I hate franchise films with a passion. I saw Up and it almost redeemed my love of film. Pixar seems like the only company concerned with telling a good, complete story that stands on its own and develops every character into a living entity. That film was perfect in concept and execution. /rant Sorry, Tough day at the office, ironically working on a Buzz Lightyear toy commercial for Mattel.

Re: Movie thread
I just saw two rented movies with my wife. 'House of sand and fog' very good! The actor is the one who played Gandhi and the girl is from the first Hulk movie. The other movie was bad. Richard Gere in 'The Mothman prophecies.' Keep in mind, I'm in my forties.
