Absolutely, I'm using these on my built engines. They should prove superior in every way to the tri-metal bearings.

Ya, most places don't have a crank grinder more or less balancer

I am debating on even getting it done right now... I know the plus sides and the minuses but I am really about to say screw it

You really need to get it done. We've pretty drastically reduced our bob weights and setting your oil clearances just right will make your bottom end much stronger.

Yeah I know... I just don't have the fundage to do it right now... I guess there is no point in spending close to 3k on parts for an engine and skipping a step... I will have it balanced when I can afford it

The machine shop probably already washed your block after honing it and then coated the cyllinder liners with light oil (wd40 or soemthing) but double check and make sure your cyllinder liners are oiled while the block is sitting. I'm sure it won't be long before you are ready to go and I'm sure they are already oiled but always better to check than be sorry.

Are you doing Rob's engine yet?

Yeah the cylinder walls were oiled when I got it back... I did some extra cleaning myself when I got it home and used some 30weight to coat them over again.

No Rob's engine will be started after all is said and done with my motor to keep confusion to a min.

Tom,
Great progress! Any pics of the work completed to date? Does the shop you took your engine to have a lot of subie experience, or are they just a very good machine shop? Did you use the old cylinder block bolts to bolt the halves together when they did the hone? Did they bolt on hone plates to simulate the cylinder heads?

I had the block bolted together with the original bolts which I will continue to use for the build... They are a very highly recomended shop from the guys at my driveshaft shop. He was very easy to deal with and was willing to explain the steps he was taking and how he did them.

Hey, it could have been worse, he could have called you "Ben", or "Dave", or "Old Tom"
