I think I donated, having sent a Paypal, so I thought I would do this post to see if I got a $ by my avatar.
Guess not. Might have to put one on myself.

Dan, once Chris or Earl has taken note of the donation and who it came from... did you include your handle in the payment? They will put a donor tag next to your avatar... I am just hoping after all the shifting is done around here, donors can get email adresses for the network

I'll send a donation your way as soon as I can. Is there a minimum?? I'm broke as a joke but I can definitely spare a few dollars for my beloved Network.

Chris, a sticky showing the amount accruing and a target figure, could be a good idea to keep the pot boiling and in front of everyone. A sort of challenge and something for all to see. Often used in fund raising. P.S. On second thoughts, a normal post might work better. If continually updated, it would have constant life, as it were.

Address
OK, let me say this first.
Thanks to all who have donated thus far But here is the issue. The officers, moderators, and administrators have been discussing options for receiving donations as well as how to track and what services people can get for their contributions. We still need a better way to track these (in the event of IRS issues) as well as choose if we are going to license as a LLC business, or a 501(c) non-profit organization. Don't worry, I have all the tracked data and such from the ones processed through paypal thus far. NOTE People have now dug up an old thread from 2005 when we did the donation fund raiser for the A/C. That address listed back then (1800 N. Cole) was only temporary. I was living in an small apartment (and yes.. small Ask Uncamitzi). Since it was an apartment, there was lock boxes for mail and thusly more secure. Now I rent a duplex in a part of town I would be mildly worried about taking donations into my public mail box on a regular basis in fear of issues with stolen mail and identity theft. I do plan to get a PO Box, but in the mean time I will post the address to where the server resides. Jim does not plan on moving anywhere anytime soon. I will post this tomorrow when I get to work and I get his address that I fail to remember. Again thanks to all who help run this place by donation of time, skill, or financial contributions. Side note, we will be doing this VERY soon as another OFFICIAL FUND RAISER to replace our server. The server was 2 years old already when its role was changed and became the replacement SVXWN server in 2002. It was seriously overbuilt at the time, but now at 7 years old, we have reached a point to where upgrades will cost more than a newer replacement server that would have a bunch more to provide for database size and load. Can you believe that we are nearing SIX years of operations and the total amount of data accumulated over time has caused the database to reach 4 gigabytes of space!!? Keep in mind, this is just forum data AND NOT the lockers! We are a bit behind and as the database grows, the waistband feel of the server gets tighter every day. The server itself only has 1 gig of ram. The server is soooo old that in order to buy 4 gigs of ram for it, the cost is $1100!! We can buy a NEW server with a dual core CPU AND 4 gigs of ram for $1384. This is not configured the way I would want. I am just noting that PC133 ECC Registered ram is not going to be an upgrade path. So, watch for the fund raiser post. I hope we can get to the goal. There will be a serious performance boost when done, as well as changes to the lockers, and additional features for contributors that help us to get there.
