Tranny again
my tranny developed a problem and I have no idea what's going on.
The tranny shifts nice from 1-2 then at about 3K rpm it shifts to 3rd but the rpm doesn't drop much about 100-200 (seems like it doesn't fully shift to 3rd)and then it shifs to 4th still at 3000 rpm Is it slipping or the problem is with the one of the solenoids? Any ideas? I have no codes, fluid level is good.

That doesn't sound good. Normally issues with 3 and 4 are related to the high clutch failing. That's what happened to mine except not as quick.
If you accelerate slowly does it shift fine? Mine would shift but couldn't hold a gear like a slipping clutch on a manual tranny.

I just spent a couple of weekends installing a new 4.44 tranny and rearend into my son's '92 svx.
He developed the same problem. After a little while third an fourth went out altogether. You can try to have the tranny flushed and etc ... but odds are the tranny and torque converter have been contaminated by the debris from the fried clutches. Does that answer your question? |
