Sorry, it just had to be said.

I think that era F-Series belongs in two tone, with slotted mags and dual tips, IMO. Oh, and it must be 4WD.

Better yet, somebody get me a nice 94-96 Bronco bone stock. My neighbor has one and its actually a really nice truck.

I just think the body on this one look good the wheels are a little much, some torque thrusts and take the stick on chrome off would look much better. I thought of 2 tone on my truck to go with the factory color maybe black. Dont know this thing is being done on the cheap from what I can get at the junkyard and local internet ads. Did find a running 351W for a $100 which is a easy swap.

Re: My free truck

You can build the BEJEEZUS out of the 300 I-6, the local community college had one in a Falcon wagon in the 80s, with a 4 speed behind it that ran 12s. Best upgrade is to get one of the Australian cross-flow heads for it.

I've always liked the looks of the 70-79 Ford trucks better, but yours is pretty sharp. I used to have a 75 F100 with a 390 and a 4 speed, 4WD was broke, and it got 8 mpg if I babied it and it had way more rust than your truck :P

Have you looked at http://www.ford-trucks.com/ ?

I'm pretty sure you are thinking of the 144/170/200/250 family of engines, the 240/300 was a truck and van engine that doesn't fit well in cars, I also don't think it was ever in Australia. While the Australian crossflow head can be swapped onto the American 144/170/200/250 with some work, it is not a common swap, the common swap is the Australian 250-2V head which was not a crossflow design, but it does not have an integrated intake manifold like the US heads do, which allows for many more induction options.

You are right though, the 300 is a very good platform to build from.

I have an F series!! It is a 78 F-350!! It has 4wd, but they are all on the BACK!! (tucked under a Holmes 440 wrecker body), 460,4 speed, 3:55 gears, It is white trimmed out in yellow and black with Warner Bro's 'SAM' holding 2 six shooters. It has a bumper sticker that states that " The 'gene' pool could use some chlorine"...

Not only is it a 'fun' truck, it WORKS it's A$$ off when the chips are down!!

I pulled a Dodge dump truck up a hill so steep that I had to add extra OIL to the Ford to keep the lifters from chattering!! Wheel standing, BRUTE force!! Got er did!!

Mine wern't free, but was well worth the MONEY!!
