Re: What do you think of my new wing?

It looks permanently attached. I would like to keep the wing removable for good paint coverage and finish. Though, I'll think about it, doesn't seem like it would be hard at all to replicate, my boss is a fiberglass god, if he can make a 20 foot tall Mighty Mouse for Paramount, he can help me make a wing that looks identical to that one.

Re: What do you think of my new wing?

I've heard 2nd hand that the replica jdm wings are not so hot. bad quality...

I never liked the jdm wing anyways... I thought it looked like some one put a wing on that was to wide, and didnt notice.

Quality isn't a big concern, as long as it is cheap. I have dealt with many bad quality fiberglass pieces, as long as the shape is there, I can work with it.

I've heard it sags though

I don't know if you can do anything about that with fiberglass...

Sagging in the middle?

Cut out a slot in the bottom and put a brace inside and glass it back up. No big deal.

Re: What do you think of my new wing?

How about extending the upper lip of the trunk lid back ala the spoilers you see on early model Camaros that are drag-only cars?

Re: What do you think of my new wing?

Post some more pictures so we can see where the mounts points are and how it looks from behind. I have to say it looks bad right now. The lip looks bad. Try to sand the lip down.

Take a look at my wing pictures for guidance. My wing flows with the car unlike the wing in this picture. Notice how the angle of my wing is the same angle as the rubber on the windows. Also, my wing is flush with the sides of the trunk. My wing looks expensive and like it was made for the SVX (it was made for the SVX). This wing looks like it was taken off any car and just mounted on.

I suggest you buy the JDM wing, and get a fiberglass guy to extend the sides to make it look identical to the JDM prototype. Thats my next project. The JDM wing is the best wing for the SVX after my wing.

Sorry.

Continue to think bold though. Dont be a coward.

Coward? Then I take it you have not seen his lace paint wagon?

This man is way too brave.

He's not planning to use this wing, he's only teasing because he knows we are chock full of stock boys.

I feel the SVX needs a wing like the VW Corrado, one that electrically moves up beyond 50 mph, and retracts to the stock bootlid shape when stationary or at city speeds.

That wasn't mine, I just worked on it, it is my friend's wagon, he loves it. He wants us to paint his new crotch rocket to match. I just have a Gremlin, a Rambler American and a SVX. I do love the wagon though, I'm into a lot of older styles, along with some new ones.

If you only knew some of the things customers made us do to their cars...

How about a 1973 Camaro "MadMax Interceptor" (Yes, I know the movie car was a 4 door Aussie Falcon, so does he)

Just in case you're wondering, no, they do not make a hood that ugly for a Camaro. That is a combination of a stock replacement fiberglass hood, a 4" cowl, 2 Mustang Mach 1 scoops and a "baby" copy of a L-88 Corvette scoop. His ideas, not ours.

Or a 240SX with a real steel Skyline nose.

I do kinda like that one though, too bad the idiot smashed it up.

Mostly I did it because of some comments I received when asking if anyone had done shaved door handles. Some like:
Quote:
The SVX is not some "pimp-my-ride-balla-lookat-me-im-on-20s" type of vehicle.
When shaved handles are not anything like that, this wing would be.

Also, I did want real wing ideas, I'm thinking about copying the prototype wing, shouldn't be too hard, I should be able to base it off the stock wing too.

Re: What do you think of my new wing?

You got some skills my friend.

If you do make a wing that looks remotely like the prototype, I'll be one of the first to buy it

I am certain he is brave enough to do anything he wants.

When I see a "stock" svx I think "what a waste".

"Stock" sucks man.

Re: What do you think of my new wing?

I spent way too much for my wing.

If I had though about the JDM wing, I could have had my guy modify it to look exactly like the prototype for a fraction of what I paid for my wing. Im still thinking about doing just this.

Also, excuse my "stock" sucks comment. Its just personal preference that sll.

You don't need to apologise about your comment, you are entitled to your opinion. And this is the Mod Mania Forum after all

The rules only ask that people refrain from getting personal or insulting with other members.

Some people like 'em bone stock, some like to pimp them a little, as owners we are entitled to do what we like with our SVXes. If you do ask for opinion though, be prepared for rejection. There are plenty round here with strong opinions, and diametrically opposing views.

Stops us from getting bored, don'tcha know.
