When the thread moved off the first page of Babble, I lost track of it I guess. By the way, wasn't there a time when we could delete our own threads? Is that still possible, or does one need to fill out a form in triplicate? Just wondering..

I love those memories from late radio/early T.V.
I remember seeing Sgt. Preston of the Yukon on T.V. for the first time.....he didn't look the same as he did on the radio! Don

Yep, now you're talkin'. I remember Sgt Preston. I also remember Circus Boy (but not Super Circus), with Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees as "Corky." Funny, it seems like Jimmy Buffet and I are the only two people who remember "Ramar of the Jungle." I also enjoyed "The Bowry Boys" and "Junior G-Men" as well as "Henry Aldridge." Oh, and another couple of programs people don't seem to remember, "Yancy Derringer" and "Mr. Lime."

Darn, Don. Now you've got me doing "memory rushes." Just so I don't get "acid flashbacks" I'll be okay.

Uh oh....now look what we've started...

The last time we did this over on Yahoo, it went on for days...

Wasn't "Ramar of the Jungle" part of that show hosted by Andy Devine? Pop you magic twanger Froggie! anyway....yes I remember Circus Boy, along with My Friend Flicka, the original Lassie, Rin-tin-tin and Rusty and OF COURSE the original Mickey Mouse Club. You are JUST a tad younger and probably missed most of Howdy Doody, Pinky Lee, Super-Circus, and Captain Midnight (save those Ovaltine labels for your secret decoder ring!)

Ahhhh those were the days. Then in 1957 the world changed....

Don

P.S. I DO remember <"Yancy Derringer"> In fact I had a dimestore derringer belt buckle...the coolest thing. When you raised your hands in surrender, and pressed outward with your stomach, this tiny pistol that looked like a decoration on the belt buckle, sprang forward and fired a cap! (you could only use this on your friends ONCE..

The name of the seried that held "Mr. Lime" was "The Third Man." For some reason, I want to call the series by the Character's name. Michael Rennie played Mr. Lime (Michael Rennie of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" fame. )

When I watched Ramar of the Jungle, it was probably a little past its Debut. It was grouped in a series of shows on Saturday afternoons. They would run Tarzan, Ramar and then, Jungle Jim.

Didn't get to see much Howdy Doody. We did get Romper Room. Miss Nancy was announcing all the kids she could see in her "Magic Mirror" one morning. When she announced, ". . . and I can see Randy . . ." I almost died of embarassment. I was sitting on the couch in my underwear. (and no, folks, it wasn't just last week -- I was only 8 or 9 years old).

I had one of those buckles also. It was part of my "Mattel Fanner" rig. I decided to look for one of those on a toy collector's site once. Those suckers, in good condition, with Holster/Belt/Gun are selling for about 300 bucks. Yikes!! Wish I could find mine (how many times have you said that?).

Don't remember Ding-Dong School. My parents probably wouldn't let me watch anything with a "Ding-Dong" in it.

Randy,

Ed Hurlehie with the Childrens Hour.
John Nagy - Let's Paint !

Jon Hall in Ramar of the Jungle. How many horsepower did the Jungle Cruiser have and was it all track drive ?

Broderick Crawford on the Highway Patol....10 - 4?

There were 8 million stories in the Naked City and I was one of them. It's a good thing that the names were changed to protect the innocent.

Cool

Gawd, I thought this thread got buried somewhere. We've really come full circle again, because we got into a TV nostalgia jag before...or was it during our Yahoo period? Ramar of the Jungle triggered my deja vu. Then I mentioned Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, (Irish McCalla, almost enough to make me forget about Ann Margret).
Don, Mary Hartline was ringmaster Claude Kirschner's uh... assistant on Super Circus. Were you thinking "Mary Hartmann, Mary Hartmann" - the odd ball show of the early '70s?
Who remembers this phrase? - "I have a lady in the balcony, Doctor".
Hint: It was a radio show first.

Ron (having fun with senility) i

Larry, you've got Linda confused Lorena. I always liked the story about John Bobbitt changing his name to escape the notoriety. New name - Les Johnson. Randy was taken - TWICE!
Sorta' bad, Ron.
