Anybody in calgary ever done a 5 speed swap, after reconsidering selling it, I am going to keep it now, and the 5 speed swap is about third on my list of to do's. 1st being the cv joint (which just went a couple days ago) and second being a tranny cooler.

There are very few Canadian 5spd SVX's (probably less than 5).

Don't know of any in AB.

Nope. I'll tell her Chirstmas morning when I give her her own key for it. It will be her daily driver if she wants it and I think she will.

I know she'd prefer the 5 speed and I don't think I'll be in much of a bargaining position. Maybe she'll let me drive the 5 speed once in a while.

It's short but it stretches when necessary.

Motor and transmission is in now. Working on the cross-member. Hoping to fire it up in a week or so.

A short leash costs much less than a divorce.

At least with the short leash there's a chance to drive the 5 speed, maybe . . .

With a divorce, the 5 speed will be gone!

Is southern Vancouver Island too far away?

The guy who is doing mine might be interested in another one and there's a really good supply of used SVX and WRX parts here. Mine is the first one this guy has done but he's a very experienced mechanic/fabricator. I'll post here about how mine turns out. If it's good and if Vancouver Island isn't too far away then I'll give you his phone number.

Any problems?

Thanks for the contact in Guelph, I will give him a call to get more info. Have any of the 5-speed swappers had any electrical or mechanical problems or glitches since switching over to manual? I have heard on other threads "engine light" on or that the ecu does not recoginize the manual tranmission etc...Cheers

Gianni

Yes, I would recomend a clutch able to handle the torque that the Eg33 will throw at it. Also take into consideration of how the car will be driven.

There are no glitches with the swap as long as it is done properly. I have no stall, no cold idle issues, and no vibrations with my 6 speed swap. I have not had any problems with it since I finished minus my mistake on the X-member but that is not a glitch

If you're going to be able to do the swap fairly soon, don't waste money on the transmission cooler.

You won't need it for the 5 speed.

If you're thinking you would just keep the cooler in and use it with the 5 speed, that won't work. With the difference in oil viscosity, you would need a different type of cooler for the 5 speed.
