If I get a 4 dr, Im pretty sure this will be it

A 2003 or 04 Mercury Marauder 300hp 4.6 DOHC
Only black will do.
Fully loaded, Ill add some black 18x9 wheels with a
polished lip, Eibach 1.4" dropspring, rear lip spoiler and make sure all the windows are tinted.
Diable makes a nice chip, Green makes a filter and probably some Maganflows, thats it.

Its that or a Mark VIII, but thats only a 2dr
and I need a family car soon

So how many dollars do you need for a used Marauder in today's market?

Very sharp car... If you're looking for four doors, would an SVT Contour do?

dont want fwd, and many Svt owners have problems
rwd or awd only
Not to mention, the Marauder will hold its value better I think
and is still more of a collector car

$50 or so. Remember its a Ford product . My brother in law got one last year. Paid just over 14k for it with 40k on the odo at the time. They really aren't the most popular in the NE as they suck donkey butt in the snow (his words not mine).

They really haven't held their resale at all according to Manhiem Market Report. Partly because they didn't sell real well. As for collectors value, it needs to be a popular car in most cases for it to gain a decent collector status.

may not be a collector car now

but the older they get, the more collectable and harder
to find they will become.
It may take 20 yrs, but they will hold their own.
Just like many muscle cars that didnt sell well in the 60s and 70s
look at their value now.
Im looking more short term anyway

Know why there aren't very many? Because a Honda Accord V-6 was cheaper and faster. ford had to give them away. As much as I don't want to go with the norm, the 300C is better. In looks and performance. If not, there is always the 3 series or G35. I rode in a S4, that was MIND BLOWING fun! Yes all more then a used merc/vic ex-taxi/cruiser, but there are plenty of used 3's around.

To each is own, thats why the FBI bought 1000+ cars
for their agents ? I stand by my choice thanks
theres not an accord out that there thats faster, plus its a fwd pos honda, the 300c poser bentley ? lol, no thanks
again, would rather not pull up to a light next to "50 cent wannabees, again" and as for the rest you mention, not even a comparison. You should do your research a little
better. Ford was releasing it originally as a low production
specialty car, just like it did back in 1969.
Plus with a few bolt ons out there for this car, it can easily be in the 12s or better and be a daily driver.

Significant Technical Input
They are especially fun to drive as a sleeper. Put on an old man's hat, push the seat up next to the steering wheel and dust some punks.

Research? I guess when Car and Driver announced the Marauder was getting the ax due to slow sales like the T-Bird they were misquoted. And if you think a 3 series/C Class/G35 is inferior to a Mercury, you have other issues. But as you said, to each his own. If you get one and like it, good for you. Also, the Accord V-6 was faster in 0-60 and 1/4 then the Marauder. Stock. Anything can be aftermarketed.

Here is another area where I commend Ford. I would absolutely love a fully loaded big sedan with my TA's motor in it. Much like the Impala was with the LT1 (though i wouldn't want the LT1). However, in typical Ford fashion, they did it halfway. Good but not great looks...good but not great power...a car like that would be lucky to sell good...so how could they expect it to sell great?

Comparing it to the Honda Accord is a bit ridiculous. The Crown Vic looks like an old man's car...but the super-blah looks of the Accord make the Marauder look almost Ferrari-like. Plus, all it would need to roast the accord is some sticky tires.

In looks?! My god man. What have you been smoking!? It looks like a partially compacted Volvo! It does move though.

The 3-series is way too small. As is the S4. Now i'd love an S8, but I wouldn't want to have to pay for repairs.

My personal favorite in this class would be the STS-V. Yeah I know, it's a bit pricey. The 2006 Impala SS will offer a pretty decent alternative to the insane price of the STS-V. It's even scheduled to go RWD in 2007.
