I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

I'm with UberRoo. There is no better detector than the watchful eye. I scan the road ahead of me for "brake checks" as far up as I can see. People, even when doing the speed limit, will naturally tap there breaks when they spot or pass a police car. It is a natural "oh crap" reflex to fear you may have been speeding and most people hit the breaks for a split second upon passing a speed trap. The watchful eye will give you more advanced warning than any radar detector. The only time I hesitate to speed is when I am all alone on the highway. When I get passed by some seemingly careless driver I say to myself, "Go rabbit, go!", then let them get a fair distance ahead of me as a buffer then I pace them from there. Let them flush out the bird dogs for me.

I also watch every overpass for parked cars or people standing along the wall. Around here troopers have a habit of setting up on them. I find that driving in the city it is easier to get nabbed for speeding.

Johnny

Polish radar detectors are the best.

I got mine in the trunk of a 1986 BMW 535i that I picked up for $400
