Pedal shape / size

Are pedals pretty universal? I mean, is the shape and size of the pedal pretty standard from car to car?

Obviously I'm talking about comparing manual cars to manuals and automatics to autos. I know that pedal travel and spacing differs a lot, but what about the actual size and shape?

Trucks usually have larger pedals smaller cars usually have smaller pedals. and having drivin everything from a feista to a Jag XJ8(used to vallet) I can saw that applys to about 98% of cars

I agree with that from my experience...

The pedals on my former automatic SVT Lightning were bigger than those on my SVX (truck vs sports car), while the pedals on my former '95 Camaro were approx the same size as the ones on my former '90 300ZX TT.

I'm just curious because I see companies like APC (puke) selling pedal covers, and they seem to be universal.

I don't want to buy any, it just made me wonder.
