speed limiter.
yes. BMW, Mercedes, Audi and many other cars have it, at 250 km/h.
But Porsche, Ferrary, Chr. Corvette and Subaru SVX dont have a speed limiter.

No exciting.

But all day this cars to hard. Because 911 is a very (good)great car.
And you can see the cars so many.
They are very normal not so individual.
Thats a reason for me to drive an SVX.
Here in germany are totally ~ 600 SVX.
A few.

ps. Porsche and M3 have a (murder) better acceleration. Better than my SVX. But for me is not the high speed or acceleration the most important.
The SVX is a complete car. Quit, fast, luxorious and very rare. That`s my reason for drive SVX 1997.

yeah i have been told by a relative of mine in Germany that he never saw a car such as mine over there... there are very few same as here... most of the SVX's were swallowed by the US market at the time...

in germany we hate speed limiter.

but than is the insurance is a little bit higher.
but drive slow and drive care.
it ist the better way

No way of knowing that I am aware of.

It will be pre-programmed or in-built into the ECU.

Holger's car has a chip from Superchips. It is probable this chip disables the limiter if one exists. You could look at the Oz site that Holger showed in his post. Chip could be cheap enough to buy if you could get someone competent enough to install it.

Oh wait!! I forgot!! You can probably do that yourself. Sorry Danny, I forgot your capabilities for a minute.

Unless you are going to try and achieve 275, defeating any limiter will be of dubious value for you.

Joe

This is what i am attracted to... in BMWs we can take out the limiter, but is it the case in the SVX ?

The speed limiter is built into the ECU. It measures your speed by counting the number of pulses per second received from speed sensor #2.

To defeat the limiter, you install a frequency divider chip which reduces the number of pulses per second (and hence miles per hour) seen by the ECU.

My (JDM) car has a 180 km/h (112mph) speed limiter. I fitted a chip which divides the frequency by 1.6. If I were to drive at 112mph the ECU would think I am only doing 112/1.6=70 mph and would not cut the power. The limiter will only activate at 112*1.6=180mph.

There is a detailed HowTo in the European forum.

Phil.

Well, at least there is one chip (mod) for the ODBII cars.
The SmallCar chip I put in my 95 made a big difference, I hope they can make it work for the 96/97 ones. . .
