My 5-speed status

The 5-speed is still on the floor. The pedal assembly is going in in the morning to be modded (believe it or notI got it out without removing the dash or the steering column). I was hoping to have the auto tranny out today, however the Exhaust didnt co-operate with me. If it persistes with it's stuborness tomarrow, I will introduce it to my friend Mr. Hacksaw. The ClutchMasters FX300 Kit should be here by Friday. I'm using the Tranny and rear from a 91 Legacy. I dont know if the Clutch Masters kit is any good, but they are the only ones that had a complete (up-grade) kit for a 91 Legacy.

THE TRANNY WILL BE OUT TOMARROW!!!! Even if I have to cut the car in half with a hacksaw to do it....

Not wanting to hi-jack.

But while all you stick blokes are together. I am looking to 'beg, borrow or steal' a TCU and the plugs that plug into it, to do a bit of experimenting. If any one can help, please send me a PM.

Harvey.

WOW! With that many miles I can imagine so.

Thanx tom, but I'm good. the problem is at the manifold. One of the nuts is rusted perminetly to the manifold stud. the sprinds and bolts at the third cat came out with no problemand the gaskets there are only about a month old. I will need new ones at the manifold though.

oh ok nm. those are a pain in the arse. If it is on the driver's side, just drop the whole manifold with the pipes. That is what I Had to do when i did the trans in my FWD. If it is pass side keep trying to getthat bolt.

UPDATE #2: The blasted tranny is finally out. The pedal assemply should be done today. My father took it to work to see if there machine shop would do it, and they said they'd get it back to him today. I just have to weight for him to get back. All that I have left to take out is the rear diff and the shifter.

There's a wire in the TCU plug (same plug that you wire the reverse lights to) that you ground. This fools the ECU into thinking you're in Park/Neutral (I chose neutral). The "N" will even light up on the dash. The down side to this (for me anyway) is that my cruise control will not work when this wire is grounded...hence the switch.

It works great except I need to find a place for the switch inside my car instead of under the hood.

It can also be the exhaust hitting the tranny crossmember.
