O2 sensors

Hey, I dont have the time to search previous threads so i thought i would write my own. I get horrible gas mileage and have been told that changing the O2 sensors will help it. There are 2 sensors right? Where can i buy em from and how expensive r they. Labor rates here are 70 bucks an hr average. Thanks everyone!

If yours is a 92 or 93,(yea,yea,I know) then it takes two, 94-97 take three. They are quick and easy to install. Just not cheap to buy.

Close. It's the OBD-II systems that have 3 O2 sensors. That would be the 96's and 97's. All others have only 2.

the cheapest ones are the universals, those might be what you're thinking of. I think they go for around $45. For a clean install, and to make sure you have good quality connections, I'd recommend getting the sensors with the OEM connectors which cost more. I recently replaced the O2s on my 94. I bought them from www.oxygensensors.com for $70 (OEM style) a piece and installed them myself. They were very simple to install once I found out how to disconnect the wires.

Ok then, looks like im in the market for new O2 sensors. I went to www.oxygensensors.com and saw a sensor made by walker ( OEM type) going for $69.50. So that means about $140 for 2. What do you all think? I'll do anything to improve my gas mileage...i get like 12 MPG now...its like driving a bentley...crappy mileage and turns heads.

It sounds like a good price, but does youe check engine light come on? On a 93 a bad O2 sensor should trigger the light at least occasionally. Tom
