Performance wise, yes. Reliability wise, I don't know. I've never known anybody who's owned a previa. But I've never heard the minivan engines in chryslers called unreliable.... the transmissions like to blow up, but .... I don't think WE, of all car enthusiasts, can say a certain model sucks because its transmission doesn't last.

Anyway, sounds weird/cool. I thought you meant you wanted a minivan with performance, in which case www.turbominivan.com is the best idea.

maybe in all your spare time take a trip to your local Toyota dealer and ask one of the long term mechanics about the quaility of the Previa and its engine....then youll be more educated
and non assuming. Quaility and Chrysler shouldnt even be used in the same sentence when it comes to late model motors (or cars for that matter...)

HA considering my little slant 6 is the most reliable engine ever made, go eat a hat. Chrysler failedin the 80's, but after they were bought my mercedes, everything has changed.

The 22RE is a friggin' bulletproof engine. It just never needs a thing.

Education complete.

Maybe you need to reread what I said. I've never called the Previa unreliable, I said I don't know anyone who has one, and cannot comment on their reliability since I have almost zero knowledge of them. And yeah, bash Chrysler, it makes sense to call a whole company unreliable when a few things fail on certain models. I mean subaru?! Subaru's are horribly unreliable POSs... they built this one car with a transmission that always failed, the brakes were too small, and the rear wheel bearings go out like crazy! Subaru sucks!

Werd. It'd be interesting to have a slant six go up against some newer so called 'reliable' engines to see how they faired.... it's pretty crazy. I've seen slant sixes with over 300k that still run quite well.

Subaru has 3 cars in the 'good bets' list and zero in the 'reliability risks' list.

Chrysler, on the other hand, has zero cars in the former list and twelve in the latter.

I realize that some people question CR's methods, but I have yet to see any compelling evidence to contradict their findings.

Maybe you should Re read my sentence:

when it comes to late model motors (or cars for that matter...)

late models meaning mid 80s and 90s.....duh !!
the old Slant 6 is a great motor....rest assure.

I never directed that comment towards 60s or early 70s cars or motors, back then almost all car where built to last, even AMC. haha
