AOL can rot in hell

just wanted to say it
their way of dealing with spammers sucks and I hope
they fall off the face of this earth...

just my opinion anyway
SO if anyone emails me from an AOL acct and dont get a response, its because they targeted my server as a spam
server (with all their wisdom) thats a laugh.
And all my replies bounce like a , well Im sure you can
fill in the rest....

ahhh.,
feel much better........thanks

Is there any kind of recourse against this? I don't mean legal action - I mean, is there a way to talk to AOL and get your server whitelisted? It's very likely this happened automatically without the intervention of a human being.

Youll love this

and its basically exactly whats going on:

You got to understand, AOL is a captive business. They feel they "own"
their customers. They want to keep the fenced into the "AOL experience."
They are charging the highest rates for dialup service in the country. They
don't want anyone "tempting" their customers away from AOL. They don't CARE
about you, or me. In their eyes, if you aren't an AOL member, you aren't
worthy of talking to "our members." Translated: These cattle are branded
and you can't touch them.

Only when AOL users (sleepy, american's who want to "feel secure" while
their rights are being shredded) wake up and realize there is a whole world
out there beyond AOL will they venture out. It's exactly analogous to "The
Truman Show" and "the Matrix" movies. Those people aren't making movies
like that for no good reason.

It is very difficult to get whitelisted on AOL's servers. They are very apathetic to anyone's needs outside of their own.

Thumbs down String the B4$t4rds up.

When we bought our first modem, it came with an AOL CD (like they all do). As "IT Professionals", we should have known better - but we wanted to get up and running, so we signed up and stayed with them for almost 2 years.

Then the ISP market really took off here and we opened an account with someone else. When I called up to close the AOL account, they asked me for my bank card number for "security reasons". When I gave it to them they said that it didn't match the number they had on file so they couldn't close the account".

Of course it didn't match, the bank had replaced my card since I opened the AOL account. I was able to get my old card numbers from the bank, but according to AOL, they didn't match either. So how were they able to debit money from my bank every month then?

Despite numerous angry phone calls and threatening letters, they continued to debit money from my bank for about a year after I originally requested the closure of my account. Due to the nature of the transaction, my bank were apparently unable to stop them from doing so.

One of the things we discovered is that it's practically impossible to contact anyone in authority at AOL. Letters and emails go unanswered and the call centre is manned entirely by a$$h0les.

We never did get the money back, so I like to relate this story to anyone who ever mentions AOL to me.

Phil.

That's exactly the sort of story I hear all the time from former and current AOL users, Phil. It's a shame. I mean, I don't want to use their service, but at the same tiem I know that it works well for many people. It's too bad that they fail so seriously in the billing / customer service department.

As for my previous post, I didn't mean to flame AOL users. If you use it, and it works well for you, that's great. I don't because it doesn't work well for me. End of story.
