You GUYS! I swear.

SPAM PARMESEAN
One can of spam, sliced approximately one-half inch thick. Place on cookie sheet under broiler until brown.

Remove cookie sheet with spam. Sprinkle with garlic salt, and chopped onion, then, place a dollop of catsup on each slice (about the size of a half dollar). Sprinkle liberally with grated parmesean cheese. Place under broiler until catsup bubbles and parmesean is slightly browned.

Serve with favorite vegetable or baked potato.

(This was my own creation when I was a teenager. It was one of my favorite after school snacks. Next time, "Western Spam.")

Unhappy SPAM!

<<Serve with favorite vegetable or baked potato.>>

Aredub, Roni adds the last instruction: "then throw away"

(Good Lord, what have we come to? First Fords, now Spam? What's next, 100 ways to serve a tater?)

Here, a guy tries to provide a public service, and what happens. He gets nailed to the wall. I'm beginning to think I was a little more appreciated on the Yahoo board. Maybe I'll just take my spam and potatoes and play somewhere else.

(And no it won't be "100 ways to serve a tater." After the "Great Whiskey Taste-off" at the Springtime in the Smokies meet, it'll be [with apologies to Paul Simon] "50 Ways to Lose Your Liver.")

Who was it anyway?

Who was it that mentioned "spam" first? If we follow the thread back . . . well, so much for the "paint chip" theory. Unless, of course . . .

And now for something completely different ......

"Spam, spam, spam, spam
Spam, spam, spam, spam....."

It helps if you know the music, but Randy, you must remember the (in)famous Monty Python Spam skit.
Rehearse it for the Smokies. It'll be a perfect song to end the whisky taste off

The last post has left me uneasy all day. Now I know why! A visual just hit me:
Aredub, dressed (or undressed, depending on your point of view) in the legendary zebra undies, tater swinging ponderously in the rear, singing the MontyPython Spam song!
EDDYCAT! Where are you???

I used to spend some time in a bar called "Nearly Normal" Have and ordinary day was the motto. My brother is a Spam connoisseur. When we go camping he brings a couple of cans and just pulls the lid off one at breakfast time and sets it in the fire to let it cook. The slime the stuff is packed in cooks down to form kind of a glaze. Not bad for mystery meat. I mean, no one knows what Spam really is after all.

My favorite dish when I was a kid was when my Mom would slice a hot dog in half, stuff a strip of Velveeta cheese (the father of Cheese Whiz) inside, wrap bacon around it and broil the whole mess. I have NO idea how I lived past 30. Probably all those Twinkies acting as preservatives.

Wink The SVX Cookbook

<<my Mom would slice a hot dog in half, stuff a strip of Velveeta cheese (the father of Cheese Whiz) inside, wrap bacon around it and broil the whole mess.>>

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Sounds good to me!

Brainstorm for the 10th Anniversary Meet: "The SVX Cookbook".

We already have Aredub's SPAM Parmesan, Lightening's Bacon-wrapped Velveeta Dog, what else do SVXers eat?
Whaddaya think, should we start a new thread?

How'd we get here?

<<Not bad for mystery meat. I mean, no one knows what Spam really is after all.>>

Actually someone told me that there were supposed to be "periods" after each letter. S.P.A.M. is supposed to be an acronym for "Something Posing As Meat!" Actually (and seriously), Spam is one of those wonderful things we inherited from the Military. It is "SPiced hAM." Obviously, it was not feasible to ship hams to our boys overseas during WWII, so this method of grinding and spicing and packing "ham." was devised. Another item we inherited from the military (believe it or not) were M&M's. Seems the upper echelon of the military complained of the popular Hershey Bar being too messy in the warmer climes and asked for an alternative. M&M's were born to melt in your mouth and not in your hand. But, the military never really accepted the idea, so, Mars candy company decided to release the new candy to the general public, and, the rest is history.

Probably so, then, cut and paste our entries from here, and delete the original message. We have strayed way past the thread's title. Meanwhle, anyone for "tater salad!"
