Cracked Radiator?

Hi again. About 6 months ago my Radiator developed a hairline crack on the black plastic just underneath the Filler Cap. I managed to source another Radiator, but within a month that too had got exactly the same hairline crack.

Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas why this would happen?

Re: Cracked Radiator?

That's where mine cracked too. When I inspected mine it looks like the plastic is much thinner in this area because of the way it is molded. I got a beautiful new Made in China copy for $130.00 on Ebay. Mind you shipping to the U.K. might be outrageous.

Re: Cracked Radiator?

That is also where mine cracked. I am having a custom aluminium radiator fitted as we speak. It's going to end up costing $1,000.

Are you nuts? Why not just buy a PWR rad for half that?

The plastic rad tanks cracking is becoming a common problem as the cars age. Solution: ermmm...not really anything economical that gaurantees success. PWR aluminum rads won't crack and do work much better (especially for trans cooling if you don't have an auxiliary cooler), but they're much more expensive.
