HELP! Radiator has cracked, what do I use to repair it?
In the photos you can see the crack. I have no idea how it formed.
Is there some "stop-leak" radiator stuff that I can just pour in to plug it up? How about JB Weld? Or am I just going to have to buy a new radiator quickly? As it is now I can only drive my car a few miles until it starts to overheat. And I don't think my warranty will cover my engine repair if it freezes up on me

Magnum Steel/Quiksteel or something on those lines. Check this link:
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...adiator+repair My radiator had this repair done by the previous owner. It is working but I still plan to get a new radiator. If nothing else it will buy you some time, but there are people with this repair going over two years now. |

well duh, why didn't I try a search!?
Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I'm gonna try Chris' method and see if it works before plunking down $400 -ack!-

Rad crack
I tried J. B. Weld. It cracked up w/in 200 miles. Have had Magnum Steel on there for about 3000 miles and it still looks fine (well fine is relative). Check out Liberty Subaru for a new radiator. You'd be looking at about $280 plus shipping. I think He quoted me $10 for shipping. Much better than 1stsubaru but then again I'm a lot closer.
