fixit questions
I just got my car back from the shop, and I just want some opinions as to whether or not I got a good deal, so here goes.
I had the egr replaced, i.e. egr valve, egr gasket, egr temp sensor, egr bpt, and egr solenoid. both belts, and timing belt replaced crank seal, and cam seals rocker gaskets, 20 washer seals? um, something called premium oil kits? obviously a new oil filter and filled up with mobil 1 10w30 total price $1598.00 so how did I do? next question, turns out that one of my precats is cracked, and I need to replace it, I was thinking about getting a pair of hiflow cats from Dayle, is this a good idea? The car is originally from CA so I assume the existing cats are lowflow. opinions? Skip

When they did the timing belt did they do the pulleys as well? Timing belt itself isn't that much, the pulleys is what makes up hte primary cost of getting it changed.

the list I put up is straight off of the invoice, so that's all they did, other than tell me that I need a new starter and a new precat. If anyone has a starter they don't want anymore, I'd be more than willing to give it a good home. Skip

watch out it might not be the starter. These cars are notorious for having the starter click when its hot or just randomly. It seems to be linked to old starter cables or an electrical problem but noone has seemed to solve the problem indefinitely.
