Mitsubishi. . . Since the 3000GT I haven't had much love for this manufacturer. I'll admit that the styling of the new eclipse is appealing but I am allmost positive that it is still FWD and the staggered or wide rear track appearance implies RWD. This is good looking but silly. It reminds me of the Scion commercial where they show the TC drifting all over the place. I just laugh when I see manufacturers portraying thier underpowered commuter cars as "balls to the wall" sports cars. BOO!

EVO VIII - respect given where it is due; 3000GT / GTO as well. But honestly, Eclipse? Give me a break! Sure, it's perfect for your girlfriend. If they make it in GSX AWD then I'd have a little more respect for the car.

I agree, it does look similar to the stratus, both FWD wannabe sports cars. I guess some people want the in the middle "sporty" commuter car and those are the people targeted for these vehicles. To each his own!

I said to myself: Can I find the smallest possible picture of the new Eclipse that shows the window? And, the answer is yes:

The glass that is on the right of the near-vertical black bar (toward the front of the car) is fixed.

And, since we're talking about it:

Base - $20000
Layout - FWD 2+2, Coupe, Convertable
Engine - SOHC I4 - 4 Valves/Cyl
Max HP - 165@6000rpm
Max Torque - 162@4000rpm

Optional Engine
Engine - SOHC V6 - 60 Degree - 4 Valves/Cyl
Max HP - 260@6000rpm
Max Torque - 260@4000rpm

Weight - 3300-3550lb
0-60 (est) - 7.0-9.0sec

Might be better with AWD like some of the models from the late 90's.
