2.2 or 2.5 liter manual transmission?

I am still chasing the manual transmission.

There are any reasons not to get the 2.2liter transmission?

What is the torque spec for these?

Thanks.

They're all the same. I am using one from a 1.8 L. No big deal.

If you can, get one out of a Forester with the 4.444 rear end.... ultimate acceleration upgrade and still retains a tall cruising gear.

The 4.444 rear also means that there is less shock load on the individual gears while driving... it's a more balanced design and less prone to failure, which is why the JDM and European WRX STi 5 speeds use this design.

Foresters were not offered

with a 4.44 manual trans in the US sayeth the good books (Forester Service Manuals). USDM Forester gear ratios are the no different than the Legacy/Impreza gear ratios.

Todd,
You know i believed this until i got my transmission in. I have a full 03 forester setup(4.11's and all) And @60 miles an hour in 5th gear im turning over 2500 rpm. Now you push that up to 70mhp and im still at about 2800~3000rpm. Upon riding in the black 5spd i met up with lsat week. I watched his revs in 5th as we entered the highway he was pushing close to 2800rpm at 60. He had an 00 tranny with 3.96 gears. I do not have the 5th gear option either.
im flustered

So you're saying that when I get my tranny from Smallcar.com in a few months I should ask for a Forrester Tranny??? I do do alot of highway driving, but still want the acceleration... what is your 5th gear ratio in that forester tranny Phil??? I want to find out weather or not I will need the 5th gear set swap.

That's a good mixture..... But...... Has anyone ever tried JP-5 (Hi-performance Diesel) Styrofome and Orange Juce (concentrate) ???? That will make some of the stickiest hottest burning stuff I have ever seen!!!!!

Well JP-5 isn't really Diesel fuel..... It is what we put in F-18's.... But it is pretty close to an extremly hot burning Diesel fuel..... It is also very corrosive......
