Randy-
In case you haven't noticed, there are a lot of us here who care a lot more about our friends on the board than we do about any car... my thoughts are with you and your family, and know that a bunch of us are there with you in spirit right now. -Mike

Randy,
I am quite saddened by your news and wish for you to pull through this rough emotional time with the least of trouble. I thank you for sharing with us, we really are more like a group of buddies than just a car club and I am glad when someone can share something very personal... it makes us all feel a bit closer. I think many of us here would say the same thing, but I would gladly give up my SVX for you to spend a little more time with your mom, even if only to have made it to her side before she passed. I wish you the best, and be sure to let out your emotions cause it helps. -Aaron

Not gone, just not physically here
Randy,
With my Dad still in the hospital, I can relate - at least a little - to what you're going through. It seems that it takes us becoming Husbands/Fathers to really appreciate that so much of what we are is due to our Mother and Father. While she may have left the physical plane, know that she is still with you in spirit with every passing moment. When times get tough, look inside - she's there. -Bill

Thank you, everyone, for your expressions of sympathy and your encouragement. I am so thankful that I can share so freely with you, my friends.
Tough, though it may be, I stand on the promise that I will not be given more than I can bear. Fortunately, in the midst of the grieving, God has also given me reason to rejoice. Today is my daugher's 18th birthday. We had planned a large celebration for tomorrow evening, long before this had happened. I know my Mom would have been disappointed if we didn't follow through. In fact, I know that she'd be angry if we didn't. Again, thank you all. Your expressions have helped to get me through.

Randy, you have said your mum (mom) would be angry if you did not continue with the birthday party. Those words paint a picture of her as lovely vital person and you must be proud and therfore also more than very sad.
Special thoughts from down under, Trevor.

Randy,
Your mother was a decent, caring, wonderful person. How do I know? I've met her son. You'll have to introduce us someday, when we have time to chat. I'll be looking forward to it.

I've been away from the computer for several days, and just now found your post Randy. As usual, the good, caring people on this site have addressed my feelings even better than I could have. I'll send a PM.....our thoughts and prayers are with you my friend.

Randy,
I feel so badly for you and your family. I also feel badly that I am just now reading of this sadness and haven't been in touch sooner. But please know, like all the others that have posted, that the prayers and thoughts of Ruth and I are with you and yours. I remember one posting in particular where it was said that your mom had to have been a wonderful person, as evidenced by you. I could not agree more. Ruth and I have been through this twice in very recent years, so we know what you and your family has gone through and are going through even now. But celebrate her life and know she is now is a much better place. Take care, my friend.... Harry

sad to hear the news. having been there, as many have, all i can add is that it was better this way than to have someone you care for linger on for months. i know your memories of her will always be one's that bring a smile, even if interrupted by a tear now and again.

So very sorry to hear of your loss, Randy. Having recently lost my father-in-law, I know how you feel. My wife's an 'orphan' now like me.
I just checked in myself after a long absence and these are hard things to endure. My sincere condolences. -Mark |

Thank you, all, for the additional condolences.
As I've shared with some, privately, it was more difficult to take, since my Mom and I grew up together. She was only 17 when I was born. She was born on February 7, 1938. She passed on February 23, 2003, just a couple of weeks after her 65th Birthday. Again, your words are a comfort. Thank you.

Randy,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss... Better late than never (I've been absent for almost a month). Be thankful for the good times you have had with her, and the good memories that still live on. My grandmother, who lived with me for the past 10 years, passed away in November. She had been struggling with a shortness of breath for weeks, and once we convinced her to go to the hospital, it deteriorated quickly. A few days passed, and as she was recovering and the vitals were looking positive, and with her encouragement to go home to get some rest, we'd figure my mom and I would leave for an hour to go home and change. Once we got home, we got a call from the hospital to tell us to get back quick, but being 10 minutes away wasn't quick enough. Sometimes they'll go without us there to spare us the pain of seeing them go... VK |
