Today I realized I need more power

One of my customers let me drive his 430 in3, 560hp (engine dyno proven) C4 Corvette 6 speed, 4.11:1 rear end.

WHAT A TRIP!!!

2nd gear entering the freeway with him at the wheel, punches the gas and the car fishtails back and forth up the ramp, rear 315 tires spinning so fast they didn't have time to think about smoking! All I could do was laugh out loud!!!

After lunch, it was my turn. Clutch action was pretty heavy and the shift throws were the shortest I'd ever felt in 20+ years of driving. Another 25mph roll in second gear, punched it and felt like I was riding a rocket sled. I LOVE torque!

Sorry, just had to bleed off some serious adrenaline.

I have driven some cars like that and all I can say afterwards is "I'm glad I don't have that kind of power because I don't know what kind of trouble I'd get into."

I had a look at Eunos Cosmo 20B triple rotor twin turbo (www.dmrh.com.au and www.3rotor.com) in the darker days when I was still looking for an SVX

Like riding on a rocket...just kept accelerating!!!

If money allows later, would also like to have one of those in the garage (9000 built)

See Todd, you really need to be looking for your very own C5, not a 2nd SVX! Some slight $$$ issues there maybe, but there are probably other ways to get close to that torque for less than an SVX cost.

I love my SVX and would probably prefer to drive it year round over just about anything else on the road, but if I ever get to the point where can afford to start collecting extra cars I think I'll go with some diversity rather than multiples of the same.

Corvettes are EVERYWHERE here around Detroit. I couldn't see myself driving one, but the one I drove is for sale.......hmmmm, nah, not for me.

Yep, I imagine the SVX stands out even more in your area than it does around here. And as far as total driving experience, I would agree, the SVX is definitely my first choice, at least of anything I've ever driven.

The Corvette has been my dream car as long as I can remember (seriously, since I was like 5) and with the exceptions of maybe a color scheme or trim level here and there, I pretty much love them all from inception to the present.

That said, I would not own one until I reached that status where I could afford buy cars simply for collecting purposes and drive it when I feel like it. Just to have on hand when I need the adreneline rush, etc.

Hence my screen name.

I've seen Mat's (SVX10), Nick's (Pockets), the Liquid silver I saw two days ago(which may be mine soon) and three others on the road in the last three years here in Detroit. I have seen a couple at my dealership being serviced, but that's it.

Detroit is a town NOT know for its love of imports.

That reminds me of an obscure movie quote:

"You come to Detroit and you rent a Beamer?"

Anyone know the movie?

Meh. You get used to it. I had a 68 Charger with a built 383 and hurst 4spd.. believe it or not I drove that thing a lot slower than my neon. :| I guess its because I viewed it more as a ... ICON... than an actual tool to haul ass. It sure was fast though.

Talking Fast Cars!

Once I won a Ferrari 348 Spyder. But only for one day

It was an amazing experience.
Everyone on the street is your friend. People you have never seen before are greeting. Crazy!
50 mph with 1st gear

And I think I don't have to say anything about the sound of the motor

But that was only one day.

I have got my SVX *forever* and I love my baby!

The Cosmo would be Mazda's equivalent of the SVX. Looked at them before, never seen one here.

Styling is a good deal more dated than the SVX though wouldn't you think? A very fine motor though.

On a small technical point. All twin turbos should be sequential. The more boost, the more lag, so you need the lighter baby to keep the pot boiling.

Otherwise forget turbos, and talk about superchargers.

They really are everywhere here. Even though it's the middle of December, I still see them all over the place.

For crying out loud, people - it's a friggin' 'vette and you're driving it in the winter!

A coworker here at Outrage bought a 'vette this summer. I asked him to show it off to me one day. I walked around it, sat in the driver's seat...it was cool, just not for me.

That, and the car, with two thousand miles on it, had a noise already. When he shut the engine off, the exhaust squeaked in a rather offensive way.

If I could get my car up to freeway speeds right now, I know it would do so silently.
