Re: plastic intake cover

You could use several very light coats of artists quality spray laquer to preserve it then reinstall it. You could also retire it behind glass in your abode and get a replacement. Then also you could include it in the time capsule to be opened at the 100th Anniversary Meet. I'm sure others would donate artifacts also.

Hi Chirs san,I put mine back on right away.Sometime soon I think I am going to clear coat it or something. It should not fade very easily since the is not much sunlight under your hood.

If it were mine, I'd first get online to subaruparts.com or 1stsubaruparts.com and order a new one. Then, I'd hang the autographed one on my office wall, so my co-workers could make more fun of me for being "weird" than they already do.

I didn't get anything much signed -- just my copy of the R&T Guide. It's now sealed in plastic.

Hey, what are you doing posting

at this time of the day Mike?

Shouldn't you be suspended by a cable dangling from something with a wrench in your hand fixing something right now?

Speaking of fixing/working on something, I got 6 stitches in my forehead last night while dismantling that junked pearlie. I feel SOOOO STOOPID!!! The vacation pictures will look great with me sporting a zipper on my forehead (dead center, right above my nose!) Another reason to hate pearlies, they hit first! Got some good stuff out of it though. Pulling the engine this weekend and the entire rear suspension/drive train tonight.

The inks used in the permanent markers will not fade with heat. They are alcohol-based and don't need special attention to keep them looking good. Just don't use an alcohol-based cleaner on them. Just wipe them off with a soft cloth occasionally

In fact, the chemicals in the Sharpie marker actually leach into the plastic. If you were to try and remove the marker from the surface, the ghost image would still remain.

I would refrain from top-coating with a clear spray. If you still want to, try a test using a sharpie and the spray on the back of the cover to see if there is a reaction.
