Am I getting screwed!?
Hi All,
I brought my car to a suby dealer (Subara of Claremont, NH) to get my flywheel and/or flexplate replaced. (previous post) and a transmission fluid flush. This is what they are charging me: diagnose $69 (I told them it was the flywheel when i got there) flexplate $45 labor $261 trans flush $120 Then in the process of doing the above work, they recommended more work, which I agreed to: water pump, $386 parts and labor, (I know it was leaking) timing belt, $290 parts and labor (hasn't been done since 60,000) I got them to go down $50 doing the above 2 things together. Then the tech says there is no rear transmission mount, and it hasn't been there for a long time. parts $126 labor $58 That seems a bit rediculous for a mount, don't you think? Does the above pricing seem reasonable? The good new is the master tech says that my transmission is in good shape. (A different suby dealer said otherwise) Ken http://macsdeli.com |

Yes.
We all are (well, maybe with the exception of Beav). (Oh man. I think I just stepped in something. Right, Beav?)

The water pump labor includes replacing the timing belt. The t-belt itself lists at around $100. Don't let them charge you for something you're already paying for.
As that was a professional response I'll be billing you for $129. I'll be billing Mr. W the standard fee if $1298.47 - you don't want me to bill you for the explanantion also, do you?

A friendly gesture would be to take a bit of those savings and donate them to the network here.
You're welcome, we're all here to help each other.

Do you have to take out the tranny to put in the flex plate? Cause the tranny mount comes out to take out the tranny. So I think the labor on the mount is high. NO MOUNT? or a broken mount?

I got a T-Tech (supposedly safer than other types) last week for $89.00 including the fluid (organic). I WAS charged an extra 20 bucks for labor to replace the external filter that I supplied. Ron.

I'd be happy to be paying what you're paying... it's a heck of a lot less than what I'm getting hit for... see my post about the $1150 water pump for details....
