-My younger days!

Oh yes, I recall a day not too long ago. There once was this overly excited boy who wanted a SVX soooo bad! The boy found one. Boy was the wool pulled over his eyes...I recall the thud of the transfer clutch and the smell of the powersteering fluid burning on the engine...And the transmission fluid...that burnt smell from the tranny being CAPUT!
My repairs have been endless, $8,000.00 later I finally got her on the road and I am $3,000.00 away from getting completly repaired (the car is only worth maybe $6,000)
I have to agree with them! Unless you are totally commited (and not a teenager in high school without unlimited funds) that SVX is not going to be your friend. If I knew then what I know now I should have dumped her off the side of a cliff and let it go forever!

Are you sure it's not repainted from a RED SVX? FWD -- with VIN JF1CX3350RK1.......

Sounds a lot like my old SVX. RUN, PUSH, TOW, DO WHAT YOU NEED TO GIVE IT BACK.

If you want an SVX, talk to one of us here first before getting it. One of us should be able to come and and check the car out for ya.

There is a 92 LS-L in Chicago area. (Look in sales section). If anyone wants me to check it out, let me know.

Question First-time drivers with SVXes

Wow, thought I was the only first-time driver with an SVX. Luckily mine's been doing good so far. It only had one owner and has only 80k on it (92 Burgundy w/touring). The radiator fan busted (damn nut fell off and the fan cracked-$211) and a plastic clip that makes the window move also broke ($11), guy at the dealer said it was the first time he's ever seen either of the pieces break. I made sure to change the tranny fluid asap, gonna do an oil change and the differentials probably next week (how often should the differentials be done?). The front windshield kind of pops (sounds like a small rock is hitting it), any thoughts? My advice-take the car back while you still can and look for another one, make sure you know who has owned it and how they treated it. Many people have heard the SVX horror stories, but it's a beautiful car and a wonderful machine if you get a good one. Definately not your typical first car, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Good luck.

BTW-How much did you pay for it? I paid $5,700 for mine so if you look hard you can get a decent deal

Beast, welcome to the Network. The popping windshield is a typical problem with the SVX. There is even a Subaru Technical Service Bulletin on the problem.

To fix it, back when it was warranteed, they would have to remove the entire dash and strategically place felt pads between the windshield and the dash. Most of us just live with it.

Again, welcome to the SVX World Network. There is no better batch of people in the whole wide world.

My god. You won't believe the horrors I have to tell you people. I'm trying to get a lawsuit going against this dealer, so hang tight for a few days and i'll explain. You really won't believe it.

Joe.

If this is a claret & black SVX that you bought from Welsh Subaru in Limerick, PA, return the car FAST. The teenage son of the owner of this dealership trashed this car.

PS: Welcome to the SVX family. I am sorry that you first SVX experience is not that good. See you at Reading IV.

CopsodyX, what dealer are you talking about? I hope it is not Welsh Subary since I just bought my car from them.

I get the same clicks from the dash on my 97. I thought this was a problem that they found earlier and fixed it.

BurgundyBeast, welcome to the club. I'm in High Bridge so we must get together soon for a meet. Kelli has an SVX in Washington, her friend John has one in Califon, and another John nearby too.

Glad to be here

The people on this board are the best. I'm glad to be an SVX owner. Mattski, I've only seen like 4 SVXes in the area, one comes up to Wal-Mart often (white with gold wheels), there's a girl with a burgundy one I see often (wheels are on backwards), a garage near my house was selling a white 92 with something like 150k on it (think it was $5600), and I passed a black one on Rt. 31 the other day. Glad to hear the windshield clicking is normal Good luck with your suit Capsody, I hope you get enough out of that dealer to buy 10 SVXes

Unfortunately, that means you hate a great deal of American Corporate Society. Sad, but true.

I've been dealing with corporate America for nearly 30 years. Even the honest ones "fenagle" and tolerate "little white lies" that , to them, don't hurt anyone. Sure, "one little lie" won't usually hurt anyone, but, when all the little ones by ALL the corporations, run together to make one big one . . . that's when it hurts.

Sorry, I'm feeling a little frustrated today.

Fortunately, I have the people, here on the Network, to hang out with. People who continually renew my faith in humanity.

Yup, y'all told me so. Enough already! Everyone did, including my mom, dad, uncle, hell, even my ex step dad.

Here's a preview of how the car was treated: The original owner would either always fill the car with 89, or sometimes fill the car with 89. Yikes.
