Wanted every to see...

Here's a pic of the Subaru that I'm getting. Hope it looks even better in person.

Looks nice. your back wheel is on backwards. Just a quick check. Take that bra off and check under the hood. People like to hide uneven stuff under the bra (like dented hoods).

I saw you mention that in another thread about the wheel. Is it on backwards, or just on the wrong side? I'll call the guy tomorrow and let him know that.

The back wheel is on backwards -- as in the scoops should be facing forwards. So he will have to switch the wheel with the wrong one on the other side.

Nothing big. 10 minutes job.

I looked at one of the other pics. Seems the left rear tire and front right tire have been switched at some point. Maybe during a tire rotate perhaps. Hehehe...oh well, like you said. No biggie.

Just for future reference, there is an "L" cast into the wheel, by the valve stem, on the wheels that go on the lefthand side of the car. Just make sure you don't have 3 wheels with "L's" by the valve stems.

i first thing i would do would be to check under the bra (applies to women, too). if that bra was left on in the rain/after carwashes and moisture was allowed to sit under there, very bad things will happen to the paint. i would only use one of those for a long trip to avoid stone chips and immediately remove it. not good to leave one on all the time.

With the bra I have on my Justy it is only on immediately after I wash it and will come off just before or immediately after a rain.

There's 3 bad things a bra will do:

1. Traps moisture as was previously mentioned
2. When it rains, dirt is washed off the hood under the bra where it will scratch away at the paint.
3. After time you will notice a difference in paint between the covered and uncovered areas. (covered areas being shiny from being protected from the sun and fading)

It does prevent rock chips in the paint though. Some people even think they look nice.

Yeah, I just took off the license plate cover from the front of the car and there was a bunch of dirt and bugs trapped underneath, and the paint is already about to separate from the bumper. I might stick it back on...

QA (Tim),
I know you are probably on the road from Ohio to Virginia, but as promised, I stopped by the dealership and looked at the car. Nice automobile.
Since it was so late (almost 9:30PM) I couldn't get into the car, but smoked it over pretty well, even though it started raining hard. I have a '97 with 50K miles on it, and mine has more stone chips than this one. Interior looks good also. As other have mentioned, I would have them remove the bar to look under it at the paint. It appears to have been on for a while.

The tires have been replaced with Goodyears - looked good, but I didn't get the type of tire -sorry. The rains came....

All in all, the green '96 looks good. A good coat of wax and it would be great looking. No damage, dents, etc that I could tell. I believe it is worth the price they quoted. My '97 cost twice that two years ago - of course it had only 9,000 miles on it

newsvx: Yep...finalized it today around 5pm. I wanted to thank you for the information you provided. I read it prior to seeing the car. Sorry I didn't phone you, but I spent most of the time at the dealership with my 8 and 3 year old yelling "DON'T TOUCH THE LEXUS!!!!". The car is incredible. Looks and runs like a dream. What's really funny, it took them 3 tries to get the wheels on correctly. The first time, they put all 4 wheels on backwards. When I told them about it, the mechanic said that they were not, so I showed him how the left wheels had the "L" near the valve stems. He was like Oh, ok, we'll change it. They filled up the tank and we were on our way.

I want to extend my thanks to everyone who posted, and I'm glad to finally be an official part of the community.

QA
