I'll have about $800 into the car when it's done, not worried about resale value. Really got it 'cause my turbo GA has no A/C and it's getting real hot down here. The SVX is about 2 months and $2k away from being on the road. No big hurry since it sucks gas like it's going out of style.

I commute about 130km every day (roughly 81 miles), and today I paid 97.2 cents a litre for gas (approximately $4.12 a gallon, according to my numbers, but that sounds wrong somehow?). That's for regular 87 octane, which I use in the Stratus. I'd never put that crap in my SVX, nor would I subject her to the rigors of the daily commute (bad struts and 4EAT). It cost me about $60CAD to fill the tank, and a tank lasts a week, mostly highway.

Incidentally, speaking of Hyundais (which we also sell at the Subie dealership I work at), I drove an 04 Elantra today. This particular one was a 5-gear; not too bad on acceleration for an econobox. Much better than the automatics, at any rate. It still sounded like poo though.

It's right for us but not to compare to people in the US.

US gallon = 3.78L
Everyone else on the planet's gallon = 4.546L

You also have to convert currency.

Current exchange rate: 0.893301

If you're paying CAD$0.972/L for premium that converts to USD$3.28/USGal.

(crazy U.S.ians)

Yeah, I did use US gallons (out to 3 decimal places ), and I also did convert currency, but I think maybe I did it wrong... like maybe converted the wrong direction. And that was just for regular gas for my Stratus. Sunoco Ultra94 that I use in the SVX would be 10-15 cents more per litre.
