Price on a 92 SVX.

Hi all,
I saw a 92 claret SVX LSi. this is lives near my house, but he is retired. He wanna sell his SVX. A frined of mine want to buy his SVX. He has 52,000 miles on it. I saw it. He was asking $7,000 for it because it has low miles on it. I think it's little too high. What do you guys think the right price will be. I brought mine for about 3grands, it had 117,000 miles on it.

First off, if it is really a 92 LSi, your friend is getting ripped off . No such thing was made in 92. On the other hand, if it is a 92 LS-L, your friend might be in a better luck. But If I were him, I'd check the car out first. Get the VIN and call SOA. (1800-SUBARU-3) and see if any major things were changed (tranny). They will have a record if it was a Suby Job. 7000 sounds a bit on the high side but then again, I have seen people selling 92s for 12k. Just make sure he check the tranny. Most would go south around 60-80k miles. But apart from that, go for it.

okay, it was a LS-L. I agree with you now. God Lwin, you act like a you a SVX investigator or something . I think 7,000 is kinda high. I would check on tranny and try to get that in 5,000. and by the way, my friend is not him, it's her. She had a 2001 Camry, but she loves driving my car. She was screaming first time when she drove my car. Well, I would tell her to get VIN # and check on major things. thanx. ravi.

First of all, anyone can ask any amount for anything being sold.
Is 7K "too much"? Not in my opinion IF:

1. This is the original (OK, maybe 2nd) owner.
2. He has ALL service records.
3. It has passed the MD state inspection.
4. The body/interior is "like new" within reason.
5. All electronics are working (check the A/C).
5. The car has been garaged.
6. The seller's house looks well taken care of.

What you're trying to avoid is those little $urprises that sneak up on you. If you can see by the service records that no brake work was done on this low mileage car, you can bet it'll be due within another year. Perhaps worth "negotiating" a few hundred bucks in your favor.
Etc., Etc., Etc.
Good luck, Ron.

European '92 SVX

I bought a European black '92 SVX with 60k miles on it.
The price was $ 6.500. It's ok, cause the car is in top condition.

so $ 7.000 for a car in top condition would be ok!

If the ABSOLUTE limit is 5K, then you'd better bring 50 one hundred dollar bills, & tell the seller, "Take it or leave it". I personally wouldn't take less than 6K if I were the seller & the car had no obvious problems. Good luck anyway.
Ron.
