What the dealer did to my car.

So my SVX is at the dealer right? Getting new breakpads / rotors, checking codes for the AWD, PA state inspection and fixing an exhust leak. They did all that and told me to keep an eye on the AWD.

So they call me friday... something like this:
"Uhh.. Gregg, we won't have your car ready until Monday. "
"Ok, it's not ready now? (it was supposed to be done thursday)"
"No.. see what happened is the tech put the power steering flood cap on the manifold and left the hood open.. the hood "fell" and there was a big dent right in the middle. It's ok though, we are repainting the hood now and buffing the car to match."

I hid my glee. You see I've had this ugly dent with bright red dodge ram paint enbedded in it right behind the headlight since I bought it. Thanks for saving me a few hundred $$$ bad hood struts..... or.. mr. forgetfull tech.. whichever.

What are the chances that the paint matches nice?

Lucky you! I hope the paint matches up nicely. Now if only some bonehead tech can bump my spoiler and have to sand/repaint it

My opinion? you should go there and check what the F*** they are doing to your car man people tend to reveal 5% of what they have done when it is bad... I bet they crashed your hood, and not just a dent

Well, I just picked the car up. It's fine, the hood matches very nicely. It's overcast here still and I could not look at it really good but to me it's real close. My GF says it's almost perfect but the left fender is a little more yellow. I don't see it. There were little bits of PS fluid cap shrapnel on top of the engine and there's a perfectly circular piece of insulation missing square in the center of the hood. I have to laugh about it. DOHH!

I doubt the hood fell. He was probably closing the hood and forgot the cap. Which is good cuz if not youd have 2 ounces of fluid by the time it got to you lol.

If the struts are bad, it probably did fall. I have a bad strut on one of my hoods and if I don't get a stick under the hood, it will come down just about the time I get under it.

Howdy Mike,
Did you see it at dealer or where they joyriding?? =)
The wheels were on sale at pep boys, and I though they would look pretty good so I'm glad I got them. They tell me at Minooka there is a lady Professor from the U. of Scranton that has 4 or 5 or something, and she is always asking to buy used ones! Does anyone on this board know this person?

I have gotten in the habbit of putting up a safety stick if I am going to work under the hood. You never know when the SVX will be hungry and try to eat you.

Mine falls. Both struts are bad, it sort of click-click-clicks as it decides its done being open and you better move quick when it does b/c it hits a certain point the weight force changes and it slams closed. If the wind slightly blows from a certain direction there is no clicking just a sudden fall of the hood.

First time it did it it caught my dad on the back of the neck with the latch portion. Scared me to death just watching. Now we use a safety pole if we're at the house and doing big work and if we're away one of us always has a hand up on it to push it back up when it starts to click. Mines only slammed close once with no one under it and there was no damage, thank god. i had someone holding it and they let go. The excuse "i didnt think it would really fall. Youre so over protective of it i thought you were just worried it might do it. You never told me that it oculd actually fall." Yeah and when i said "hold this. i dont want it to fall and dent the hood." i was what? Making a joke. No! I ment the hood falls and it could dent the hood, moron!

I'd have asked for them to wait before fixing it and said i wanted to see the damage. That way you can tell what they are trying to fix and if they're lying. I probably ask twenty million questions about the damage and how they intend on fixing it. But then i'm over protective of my car.

Funny you should say that, they were doing doughnuts with it in the back! Just kidding!!! Rico, the mechanic showed it to me in the garage. It looked really nice in the flourescent light. I don't think that professor lady is a member I think I would have heard from her by now. I've seen her at minooka a while back and around town. Right now she drives a claret. BTW, do you still have your stock rims?
