New SVX World Record!!!!!!!!
To all of you that have done a tranny change or swap you will understand my excitement. I had to change my tranny due to no lock-up in AWD mode. Tranny is under warranty fron salvage yard.
Total hour to remove and install the tranny with floor jack, jack stands, and hand tools.................................. 7 HOURS Steve

Thanks all, I am dumb founded at the time it took. I had to keep asking " are you sure it is only 7 O'Clock" . I started the job around noon.
I installed a 91 Legacy tranny with the same 4.11 gears. The shift logic is the same as the SVX so it should shift better, I think. I also had to preload the right intake cam. I had removed it about 2 months ago because of the exhaust cam pully almost broke. I did not know that you had to pre-load the sub gear. I had a nice tapping noise fromt he right side. I had to tear the t-belt out and pull that stupid cam pulley off again. All is better know. The trany heats up great and at 150 deg I have lock-up in AWD !!!! I am so happy. It has been atleast 4 months almost 5 since I had AWD. Steve

Good job Steve,
And thanks for your advice about using a floor jack to install your last 4.11. I followed your advice, and that's how we finally succeeded. The second time is always easier, [ask Tom about the third, fourth, fifth, etc.], but I think we could swap one much faster next time, not faster than 7 hours, but faster than 7 months! Without changing the rear diff, that saves a bunch of time. Nice work! Quote:

WOW That is fast. Was that you working alone?
How do you use the floor jack to lift the trans?

The Use 6 ton floor jacks for the front and 3 ton in the rear of the car. The front end will sit higher than the back. Also I placed the jacks on the jack points on the side and slid the tranny out the wheel well. There are pics in my locker for your viewing pleasure. Steve
