OK, so I'm going to throw this out as a work in progress. I have just added a link on http://svx-iw.com/ to submit your own information/troubleshooting articles.

This is still in the early stages but it is functional. There is no tutorial as of yet. All I can say for now is to make sure to include your network name when you add an article and for inline images just specify the location:

<file=description>

If you're still reading this, the link to submit an article is in the SVXipedia section in the above link.

Also don't use any paths or the image won't show up.

I still object to the Terry Mclane FAQ being posted like it's the bible of all things SVX. The top of the page claims that the information stems from all in the svx community and makes no note of the fact that there are things in it known to be incorrect now or of it's being terribly dated. In my mind it's to continue being posted it should be with those notes boldly pronounced up top. You and I may know it's a dated document and not truly representative of the current state of knowledge but it claims othewise at the top of the page and could easily missguide anyone who just bought an svx and is researching around for the first time.

I will be doing a write up with pictures once I do Chike's and Soobie Tom's front seals on June 2nd. Should be able to get it on the web by the 3rd or 4th. Hope this will help some of you looking to do it.

Tom

I agree completely. I will add a disclaimer at the beginning of the FAQ indicating the date it was written and that not all information may still be accurate. Don't forget that other copies of this FAQ are available and are linked to as well. There was talks of creating a new FAQ but I don't know what happened. If it was dropped then I can start putting together a new FAQ with up to date information.

Actually you could add it yourself. If you're familiar with HTML you could attach the PDF's to the article. If not a mod can take care of that for you.

The files upload as an image but you link to it like you would link to any file/URL:

Code:
<a href=filename.pdf>Link Description</a>

That means I'll need to work on a help document for submitting articles. There's a great reference site for HTML at www.w3schools.com

Instructions for Submitting an Article on SVX-IW.COM

Step 1 - have any pictures and files for your article ready to upload
Step 2 - load http://svx-iw.com
Step 3 - click the SVXipedia link
Step 4 - click the "HERE" link to load the submission page
Step 5 - select the number of files and photos you will be including in your article and click the "Update" button. This is important to do first as if you change this later all fields will be reset
Step 6 - enter the title, author and text of your article
Step 7 - use the browse buttons below the article text to select the files and photos you want to include in your article. Enter a description for each file
Step 8 - click the "Submit" button and you're done

Your article will be reviewed by mods for accuracy and updated to match the format currently being used on http://svx-iw.com. Once the article has been approved it will be moved to the correct category in the troubleshooting section.

Here are some hints when writing your article:

- the article is pure HTML so any HTML tags will work

- to add inline images to your article use the following code: <img src=photo.jpg> where "photo.jpg" is the name of the image you will be uploading

- to add links to files you will be uploading (eg. PDF's) use the following code: <a href=file.pdf>Description</a> where "file.pdf" is the name of the file you are uploading and "Description" is the name of the link a user would click on to download that file

- additional HTML tutorials can be found on http://www.w3schools.com but it is not necessary to add HTML to your article as the moderators will do it for you

Added info to the previous post indicating that I'm now keeping track of the authors of the submitted articles.

We need more people to submit your articles. Get cracking!

I'll submit some articles this week I've written that are now How-To files on the network.

I'll also work one up for general advice on drag racing an SVX!

Awesome. Can't wait.

Don't forget to check if your articles are already on my site. I spent a lot of time converting the PDF's from the how-to locker when the lockers were down.

If you or anyone else wants assistance with submitting articles let me know...you know where to find me

No prob David. I'll check your site first.

I'm kinda excited about writing the drag racing artcile. It probably will just be a few paragraphs, but it is one thing I enjoy doing a lot with my SVX!
