Is this fair pricing for a SVX rear end?
Today I started shopping around for some stock SVX parts for my FWD --> AWD 5MT conversion. I went to a salvage yard, and was quoted the following prices:
- Driveline: $125 - Rear LSD: $250 - Half shafts: $50 each All of these are from the same car. I asked about the milage, and the guy said that the gauges had already been removed. They only had 4 SVXs, and he said that he thought he remembered the milage to be somewhere around 123k. I am thinking about getting the VIN from it, and checking on Carfax. For the age of the parts, what do you think of the prices? |

I have been buying late model rear ends for $100.00. If you need new stock ring and pinions, housings, but not the center carrier or LSD, I have about four laying around. Pay the shipping and if you need one it's yours.

Here is the list of Subaru cars with rear LSD, 4.11 style. The info came from http://wac.addr.com/auto/obs/lsd/lsd.html 2000 - 2001 Impreza 2.5RS 5MT 2002 - 2003 Impreza WRX 4EAT Now, what 5MT cars came in 4.11, aside from the 2000 - 2001 2.5RS? I was thinking that a Forester tranny would be nice, but I can't find any info for it. |

Actually, a better thought would be to get a WRX tranny that has the 1.1:1 stepdown. This way, I could keep the SVX rear LSD intact, and then just worry about getting the WRX 5MT.
So Phil, please do take a look at the SVX rear diff that you have. Any idea about how many miles it has? Last edited by deruvian; 03-23-2005 at 01:14 AM. |
