Has the method used to keep track of which threads we've read changed? I was annoyed that I would read all the new posts and noticed that all the old posts were starting to show up as unread.

At the bottom left click on the drop down menu and change to vbulletin 2 default - you will get your gray color scheme back.

It's not the same. Looks like we still don't get nested quotes though.

Thumbs down OK, what gives?

"The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 10 characters."

You've got to be kidding. No more smileys after a quote to show you agree??
Old format - "1"
New format - 'zero'

Johnny,

Don't know what this means, but it makes a change all right.

I had the opposite problem with the old system. If I included a quote with a few smilies in it, and then added a few to my note, it often came back with a request to delete images, there were too many in the post.

Maybe this is designed to cut down on post whoring?

As a longwinded and garrulous one, I sometimes resent short responses, particularly if they have nothing to add to the discussion, nothing new. I think of them as lazy responses to push up post counts. A few people on the Network take this Reply Trivially to Absolutely Everything approach to extremes and I find it irritating.

In business there is a saying; "If you are in agreement with absolutely everthing I say, then one of us is superfluous"

My view, if you don't disagree or have something to add, and are too lazy to type, then don't post.

Joe

I can see that viewpoint, Joe, but sometimes one simple smiley says a thousand words. We have enough post *****s here on the board with or without smileys. Can we trade post count points for merchandise? No. If people want to make a big deal out of having a high post count then let them compete with others who do also. In the mean time, why should you or I really give a rat's petute.

I view this board as a great big gathering of good friends. Instead of standing/sitting with each other in a bar or at a meet, we gather here for good conversation. Conversation often involves a meaningful smile, a wink, a nod of the head in agreement with what someone else said or often just a laugh out loud. I feel that should be preserved here in the board as well. If you are insecure with the size of your pe... post count and need to constantly compare it to that of others, then that is your problem. Yes, post *****s exist but is it really worth worrying about?

Johnny

ya know....now that we have had the new format for a few days, I realize that the forum looks like every other forum out there. And so many of the forums look slapped together and cheap.

So as I see it we own cars that are so expensive to maintain that we can't afford to have a forum that looks different anymore.
