This is the hood we should have!

The latest edition of NOPI Street Performance Compact magazine (has a supercharged Stillen 350Z on the cover) has pics of what I think LAN's Stage 3 kit will look like (roughly!) The Stillen supercharged 350Z article has a picture of the Z's engine bay on page 44 and a nice picture of the Z's carbon fiber hood on page 42. The hood is exactly what I've wanted to see for the SVX - sort of a classy Z28 cowl induction hood.

Dayle - think you can get one made for the SVX???

Thoughts?

Thumbs up

I saw the pic of that c/f hood in the magazine you showed me today. Looked very sharp and gave the 350Z a real 'presence' on the road. It definitely looks 10 times better than the one offered for the SVX with the hood scoop...

I always liked the NASA style hood scoops on the 71-73 mustangs.

Here you go...

SVXRide showed me a pic of the c/f Stillen Power Hood that's needed with their S/C kit for the 350Z...

I like the small cowl, but the bubble on top of it really dosent look good for me. At least for me it would seem to really mess with the lines of the SVX even more than the wrx style hood scoop, when there is the doubble cowl thing, but the single cowl would problley look pretty good.

so aim at a 97 mustang hood... look the design of the SVX's hood is quite innovative. look at it a little bit and you will realize that any modification of it would look bulky ... I have considered many graphics to change the hood, I will in the future when I know either i would plug a turbo or not, but for the time being I haven't find a professional modification better than stock. probably the orange Supra hood in the fast and the furious (the four openings of the front). further than that, you will ruin its beauty

I agree that really messes with the lines...not very classy. I like the jdm performance stuff, but...not this. I think the popular nsx loovered cf hood would be sweet, because it is clearly is to sports modify and not to bling bling the ride. If it made a bunch more room under the hood to put say...supercharger on a front wheel drive...I would eat the esthetic stuff. Thumbs down.

I agree that the second "bump" isn't all that attractive. I believe that Stillen was looking to just clear the s/c and didn't want to make the main "bump" any higher all the way back to the windshield.
Dayle - don't you have a fiberglass Z28 bolt on scoop (not a full hood) lying around somewhere that you could just lay on top of the stock SVX hood so we could see what it would look like?

CONSUME,
I think you must have missed the comment in the earlier post -- the raised section is there to allow clearance for the supercharger that Stillen installed on the 350Z's engine.
