Just got back from New York and....
I got a SVX to replace the one I lost to that moronic plow driver. I still have not gotton money out of him yet, but we now have lawyers working on it.
Its a 1994 LSi, http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...threadid=19930 I have to give props to the orginal owner as he did a simply amazing job at keeping this car maintained. I'm not at all suprised he has never had any tranny troubles. He made sure every thing his dealer suggested to fixed and maintained got fixed and done properly. I saw evidence of this as I was looking through the piles of records and I even saw that he told the dealer exactly how many FT/LBS to torque the lug nuts for the wheels. I'm very happy with it overall. There are a few things I will have to get fixed but are not big deals. Its in pretty good condition for a car I paid $4800 for and came with 2 sets of tires. Only thing I will have to get fixed soon is the little rust bubble on the trunk I just noticed but does not suprise me as the car is 10 years old. I will post big pics tomorrow. (1600x1200) Thanks again Rich for a GREAT car! My dad who is normally very uptight about cars and their condition is in love with it which is a complement in it self. My mom also liked it a lot.

Oh, quick question for anyone who may know. When I was driving back the car would get a deciently noticeable vibration and sound somewhere between 50 and 60. Basicly it feels like a manual car thats running way to low of rpms and should downshift but the person did not. Like the motor is bogged down. It does the same thing starting at about 90-100 and does not stop as speed increases although I never went much faster than 100. At those speeds the vibration was much more violent and stong. The weirdest thing about this is it only happens when giving the car gas. I can coast at 100 with none of that noise or vibration but when I give it gas it starts right back up. At any other speeds there is not a hint of this problems.
I'm thinking motor or tanny mounts.

The first 50-60mph vibration/noise exacly matches this persons decsription except only between 50-60 with the TC locked,
http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...ight=vibration And I hate to say, the other one matches this, http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...ight=vibration Any opinions? I'm a little worried about it. I would have taken my dad for a ride to show him but he would not let me since I had transfer plates on the car and it would have been illegal.

Rich wrote me saying that the vibrations at higher speeds did not exist with the stock rims so maybe it could be that. I'm going to have a shop check it out to be on the safe side though. And I'm going to probablly buy a Stage I ecu upgrade to help with those lean fule problems. I wonder if resetting the ecu might help.

Again, as I wrote you, there's been a slight vibration at certain speeds (starting around 65 or 70 MPH) ever since I had to replace the OEM tires. Balancing helps, but it's never really gone away. I read somewhere that OEM tires are built to a tighter "roundness" standard than aftermarket tires, and I've always wondered whether the stiffer suspension made a looser "roundness" standard an issue. I seem to recall similar problems with other cars I've had, but it's hard to distinguish a not-quite-perfect balance job from out-of-roiund tires without a lot of screwing around, and since I don't drive all that fast all that often, I just lived with it. That said, the CV joints do have 127,000 miles on them now, and they don't last forever, though as the service records show, I had the boots replaced last year. Anyway, good luck with it, and I hope it doesn't start falling apart on you now that you've got it home! Last edited by richysvx; 07-28-2004 at 09:16 PM. |

Hmm, did not know the CV's had that many miles on them. I might have those checked out just to be on the safe side. Although I have not noticed a nasty clunking when turning that tends to come with bad CV joints.
I also doubt it will start to fall apart. It was maintained to well for that to happen. I do expect some trouble here and there as it is 10 years old. My other SVX would randomly not lock and arm the security system in the winter when it was cold. All can I do is hope to find any problems before they find me.

I hadn't noticed any clunking either, but it would probably be a good idea to have the ball joints checked...they've got 127,000 miles on them, too.

I've got a local dealer here who should be able to give me a nice check over including compression check for about $60. I think I'll try to get that done sometime soon.

Pictures are up in my locker. I did not post them directly becuase I know some user's are on 56k and some of these pics weigh in at over 600kb.
Now I need to get her washed.

Hi Wiz, If your talking about the trunk lid, it's not rust. The trunk lid is some kind of plastic. So no rust. Good luck with your new SVX. Take care, BOBB |
