I only have a pic with 6 out of 7 too. I will have to get them all together in the near future and get a picture. All of mine are drivable though. I need a parts car!

Had my SVX when i was 16, converted to a 5spd now iam 17. Wonder if iam the youngest SVX 5spd owner. The SVX is a OK first car, some under sterr and its not to fast, but the parts are dam expensive. Always wanted one tho never thought i would own one, ecpecialy a 5spd.

Sadly, I will be turning the big "Four Oh!" in 58 days. I still feel like a 20 something mentally and swing between 20 something and 60 something physically depending on the day. Aside from the gray hairs covering my chest I can pass for 30 or less (most guess 28 - shaving the head removes gray hair evidence ).

Had to work for my cars since I had my first one at 17 and have paid for everything myself. I think it is a sad statement on todays society where most (not all) 16 year olds feel it is their natural born entitlement to be handed a brand new car on their birthday. They will have little real appreciation of what they have unless they have to provide for themselves. I think it is my generation overcompensating for the fact that we had to work for what we had. Many of them probably resented the fact that they had to work for their car and want to be able to give one to their kid to "save them from the pain". I wish they realised that it is not helping to build any real character in their child.

Kudos to all the 16 - 20 year olds in the network who have earned the right to own/drive any car, let alone the SVX we all love! You are truly the future of this country.

Johnny

I bought my SVX like a month or two before my 16th birthday.
Unfortunetly, i have a need for speed, and the SVX fulfills that, so after 5 traffic stops, 3 tickets, and an entirely new electrical systems (not my fault), it finally made it to my 17th birthday. And on the topic of spoiled children, i payed for EVERYTHING in my baby, from insurance to the car, to the tickets i got in the car. But you can safely say that there has been no physical damage done, because i carry a baseball in my trunk just in case anyone gets some not so good ideas about my car. Plus, my baby is Definetly the Sexay-ist beast at my college, hands down, regaurdless of what others may say!!!!!

I'm 47 and old enough to know better, but not old enough to learn. The older crowd enjoys a little slower and smoother ride tho. Besides old or young we all know that in ten years the SVXes will be a hard to find collector and appreciate greatly, too bad older people don't increase in vaule too!

SVXgirl: It's definitely very respectable to be able to pull your own weight and pay for your SVX by yourself by the time you turned 16. You must be getting a generous allowance from the parents (either that or you have a great paying job)(or both) to be able to fork down as much cash as you have. BTW, what college do you go to?

age owner & svx

I'm 31, owner of a '96 SVX LSi (now with 101k miles). Paid cash for it, opting to fix things occasionally, rather then have a big car payment and still have to fix things. You get good at planning ahead.

Already done:
oil change
brake fluid & pads
rear trailing link assy
4 wheel alignment
sun visor
transmission shifter cable assy
headlight assys
a/c pressure test & recharge

to be done in the next week or so:
brake caliper rebuilds
power streering flluid change
transmission fluid change
antifreeze change
differential fluid change

Couple of more months I'll be looking for another set of TOYO's, I sure l ike those on this car.

WOW, allowance, what's that? I haven't seen a penny from my parents since i started working at age 14. They let me live in there house, but that's about it, which is fine by me. And i have a ****ty job, i just find ways of making money, lol. As far as college goes, i go to the community college, since i'm just putzing around trying to decide on a major!

I earned my SVX by doing some small jobs and a weekly paper rought whole $50 bucks a month for the paper rought. My parents never gave me anything for my car ecept a place to park it. I first bought a 87 tubro supra with body damage for $1500, fixed it sold for $3100, then bought my SVX for $1200 total, swaped in a 5spd $1000, and paided my brother off for a loan for the supra. My paprents origanly said they would pay halfs up to $1000 but never gave me the money. I know a couple of kids at my school who were given some really nice hand downs, newer BMWs, ect or there parents went out and spent $20,000 grand or more on a car for them. The best and only hand down i got was a 75 dodge dart with the slant 6. This car was used as a 3rd car when another was in the shop, and was in horrible shape. I had more problems with that car than any other i have ever thouched. It would hit the exhust manifold with the body roll (only of right hand turns, every time i went some were over 20 miles away something would break %100 of the time, radiator cracked, radiator hose blew on the freeway, distributor gear broke some how when the car was sitting, and water pump complety gave out. The best part was when the radiator hose broke and i was talking to my dad about it, i asked when was the last time he replaced any of the hoses becasue they were extremly fragile and bloated, his answer was 10 to 15 years ago. Last time i trusted my dad with a car.
