works out to a lower cost.....
End result: car did feel like it had more hp then my other car, and my mpg went up even more then my last car too.
Final anaylsis.....this was truly a better set up overall.
How can a y pipe possibly have better flow? Had you removed the left and right cats on the prior car? Think about it, if you take two pipes and put them together going into one pipe 1/3 to 1/2 of each of the small inlet pipes is being cut off at the joint...right where the two are coming together and piling their discharge onto eachother.

Not a Y pipe like in a Chevy. Magnaflow makes some very nice freeflowing Y pipes, where the 2 pipes come strait into a chamber and smoothly transition into one pipe.

Dude, your not listening.....What I was comparing was using a
large capacity single inlet cat with a Y pipe made Compared to a dual inlet Cat like what comes on the car stock. Even if both cats are hi flow versions, the single inlet is more effeciant then a dual
inlet.
I wasnt comparing the ypipe set up with a true dual kit.
Im not a fan of a true dual kit on these cars anyway..
The hp gains are so marginal on both systems its not worth it to me to add more pipe and incure more cost.
You also lose alot of low end torque with a true dual kit in most cases.

I'm listening fine. I don't know where you got the impression i was talking about a true dual exhaust. I just don't believe a y pipe can flow better than a dual inlet cat for the reasons i described above.

Well, since Ive done it both ways and experienced
both ways, and Carrsound suggest one over the other..
Im convinced whats best for me anyway.

I would have liked to have heard the logic of why he thinks a y pipe flows better than a dual inlet cat just cause I can't see why it would. Then again subafreek said magnaflow makes a ypipe that doesnt' restrict the flow because the two inlets dump into an expansion chamber rather than weld together. I haven't seen one of these...would be curious to see a pic of that. Did the carsound guy explain the physics/theory of why he thinks the ypipe and single inlet cat flow better?

I'll take a pic for you next time my car is on a lift. Subafreak buit my exhaust using the ypipe. I can't say I've had much time behind the wheel with it but it has to be better than my stock setup was (considering no clothing hangers were used).
