Significant Technical Input
I've read that the flow path inside the transmission is changed when the fuse is 'in' and can result in no oil going to lube certain parts. It's only meant for short durations, such as emissions testing, etc.

Unhappy fwd Fuse

Before I knew better, I drove the car about 550 Freeway miles with the fuse in. When I learned that there was a fuse, I was worried the prev owner had put it in to mask a problem. I took it out and prayed to the SVX Gods. 5000 miles later the rear end is quiet and the tranny shifts like new. For what it is worth....

Randy drove his SVX with a Legacy tranny in for a couple thousand miles with the FWD fuse in...for what it's worth, the tranny still worked fine at the end...

Actually, when all was said and done, I had driven the tans with the fuse in for just under 10K. She was still as smooth as silk when I had it replaced with a real SVX tranny.

That's one solution, but, I think you also have to get the axles. That might be a Huck question. I didn't go that route.
