Trunk Strut Installation
I bought some good trunk struts from Mike and tried to install them on my '92 SVX this morning.
Let me explain. I took off the old right trunk strut with no problems. I installed the bottom of the new right strut on the trunk fender lip with no problems. I figured that I could use my weight to compress the new strut. I could compress it ok but could not hold it long enough to line up the bolts with the holes on the trunk lid. I spent an hour trying to keep the strut compressed & line up the bolts to no avail. I needed 2 more hands. I'm thinking that it's a 2 man job. One to compress the strut. The other to line up & tighten the bolts. Is there some secret to this, so that it's a one man job?

Sorry, no advice to offer, but that just seems weird. I installed new struts Saturday and they required no compression at all. With the trunk wide open, they're pretty much at the end of their travel. Could the one giving you trouble be jammed or broken?

It should not be that hard. Are you trying to put hood struts on the trunk?

Dude, you're installing them wrong. One of the brackets on the ends o the struts is flipped 180 degrees. I had a **** of a time getting them on and then when I was done I realized I installed htem the wrong way. It's much easier to put hem on the CORRECT way.
