noisey doors

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but all 3 of my SVXs make a click-click-click noise when you open the door. I've found the source of the sound to be a worn insulator covering a pin for the door safety (the thing that keeps the door from opening too far). Subaru doesn't show a part number for it, but perhaps some of you have fixes.
thanks,
Chris

As far as I know, they all do this. There's a slide in the door with 'notches' that hold the door open for you at certain angles. These notches make the clicking sound. I just keep mine well-greased. In the summer they can dry out, get rusty and creak badly.

Oh I rebuilt mine. It's called a "door checker". Opposing spring loaded rollers. The roller n spring on the bottom will rust and freeze up and then gets flat spots.

It's real bad when it sounds like firecrackers going off when the door is opened.
