Question Dumb Question

How can you tell what # SVX you have? I saw on a site that you look at the VIN #'s from the 12th to 17th spot. Is that right?

I don't know about the site but if you post your vin # and production date I'm sure we would be able to tell you.

Here's my VIN...Is the production number within it?

JF1CX3539NH109486

According to the site I was looking at that tells how to decipher VINs, that would make my car 109,486...(?)

More like #9,486

109,000 would have been a huge production year.

Nope... something like that but a little off...

JF -- Maker ID [Japanese / FHI]
1- Type of vehicle [1= passenger, 2= Miltipurpose pass.]
C - Line [Subaru C line]
X - Body type [D=4dr, K=Station Wagon, X = Coupe]
3 - Vehicle Attribute / Engine type [3.3L]
5 - Model [2= Base, 3= L, L+, 5= LS, LSi]
3 - Weight class and restraint type -- w/o passive rest. and airbag
9 - Check digit ????
N - Year Model Year [ N=2,P=3,R=4,NA=5,T=6]
H - Plant of manu -- Tranny type [K=FWD 4AT, X=Full time AWD 4AT]
101101 Sequentiual number -- [101101 and after - 2 dr coupe, 210001 and after 4 dr, and 310001 and after - station wagon ]

So... 109486 would make it a 8385th SVX or something around that figure. So yours was made in late 92s right? Also, remember there are only 8500ish SVXes made for 91/92 production...

I don't understand why, because it didn't say that sequential # stuff on the site I looked at...But he took the 101101 and subtracted it from 109486.

Easy,

They only made 8500 ish so it can not be more than 8600.

The production number for the VIN started with 101101 so I minus 101101 from 109486, giving me the magical 8,385. It may not be correct but it should be in the ballpark.

Again, production number does not start at 0 though. It starts some odd number after... so you don't have 399th but probably 375th or something around that figure.
