o/t stock
i have many many shares of stock in a bank... the one that my father works for, but the stock doesn't really seem to be going anywhere, i get dividends, but they're small
i'm thinking of selling it and trading for something else... like XMSR, or more stock in AMD... now that it's really low... and continue to wait till it rebounds... anyone else dabble? or survive on the stock market?

Scary place to be right now. Right now is the time to buy though, while everything is low. In maybe like 10 years it'll be back up, but dont hope for a get rich quick scheme. I invested 500 bucks in Apple's stock. It went up to about 900 dollars within 5 months. Peaked. Stayed. Now it's only worth 450.

If you really want a stock to tank, let me buy it. I seem to have a reverse Midas touch with it comes to financials.
My first investment experience was in 77. I bought 250 bucks worth of Philpet. The season was ripe for petroleum companies at the time, the analysts said. The sucker dove. Then, in 97 I had some monies to invest. Went with a reputable broker. He put me into a fund heavily weighted in financials. The season was ripe for financials, the analysts said. My first statement was 1,200.00 inside a parentheses. I let it ride until '99 and lost a few more hundred bucks. After a while, I called the broker. He said they had hired a new manager for the fund and they were going to add a heavy mix of techs into the fund. The season was ripe for techs, so they said. I said, okay, I'll let it ride a bit longer. That was three days before the Microsoft Monopoly ruling. I've since pulled all monies from the market and paid off some bills. The market should be safe now that I've withdrawn. I can't buy a break.

I bought some shares of XMSR about 2 months ago, and have more than doubled my money since then. I wish I had taken out a personal loan and bought 10 times as much!!! The broker laughed at me when I told him i wanted to buy some of this stock. I think I'm the one laughing now. WHEEE.
