Towing?
I am looking at making a long distance move and need to tow my '92 SVX-LS behind the moving truck. I want to know what is the best towing method. Using a tow dolly that leaves 2 wheels on the ground, or does it have to be towed on a flat trailer with all 4 wheels off the ground? What are the possibilities of damage to the tranny or other drive train parts?
Any recomendations or info from the manufacturer? Thanks, |

ABSOLUTELY. you MUST tow with ALL FOUR WHEELS OFF THE GROUND. Ok. sorry about the yelling, but just wanted to make it clear.

Not that I need to tow mine anywhere, but what about all 4 wheels ON the ground?

just a question....
I know it's always a no-no to tow with an automatic's drive wheels on the ground; but, couldn't you drop the driveshaft and put the front on a dolly?

I saw an Infiniti QX4 being towed on a dolly yesterday. (Don't they have the 4EAT in them?) I thought to myself. OMG, SOMEONE IS GONNA HAVE SOME PROBLEMS!

You COULD tow an SVX with the rear wheels on the ground if you disonnect the rear driveshaft from the rear diff, thus dissconnecting it from the tranny, this will cause no damage to the auto tranny, as it is then out of the loop.
Of course if you had a 5-speed SVX, you could just tow it anyway . he..he..
